Following up "what Gettleman says doesn't really mean anything" with more of "what Gettleman said" doesn't really do anything for me thanks. I've already read the team fluff piece thanks.

 

The point is again that what he says consistently means nothing, and whereas Addison may have picked up an increased role last gear-maybe even deservingly and not just out of necessity, though the latter was certainly prevalent-it doesn't change that you're talking about a 30 year old player who is what he is.

 

If its including escalators or I guess is even front heavy (provided it doesn't make us timid about acquiring real upgrades both at that position and elsewhere) then I guess okay but for a board that constantly coos when other teams "overspend" outside the 3 mil per year range on good players, their similar cooing here over a player whose put one "that's decent" season forth is certainly out of character and I couldn't even begin to imagine why.

That's good news. I hope he earns every dollar. Seems like a fair deal for both sides. Not sure that it was a steal by any means as it puts him 9th or 10th in average salary for a 4-3 DE.

I think many assumed he'd get something in the 6-6.5 range, so this is in line. Maybe a tad high but we were in no position to let our only reliable pass rushing DE test free agency. 

That 50 Milllion or so in cap space we have is going to go quickly. I really hope we can do a long term deal with Short vs using the franchise tag. Otherwise Mario and Short will consume 40% of the cap space by themselves.

All that being said I'm happy that we retained him.
