Panthers prioritized Addison first. This tells me the Panthers see him as our x-factor in the future, and his contract is warranted.

Remind me again, prior to the bye week he only had one sack, then afterwards came out with 8.5 sacks including when missing 2 games?

I think we have our next feared DE in Addison.

agreed. unfortunately it looks like ealy is nothing more than a backup at this point (still don't know how he managed to have one of the best defensive performances in super bowl history to his abysmal performance last year)

with CJ getting up there in age, I think we're another splash away (either in free agency or the draft) from having one of the most feared defensive lines in the league. Make it happen DG.

Right. I think we may CJ walk.

Jury is still out on Ealy. He flashed in the Superbowl, so he has it in him. Question is when he'll erupt and put all the pieces together.

I don't think so. Could see us rolling with Peppers, CJ, Addison, Ealy and a draft pick. No draft pick is going to have a big contribution this year. No reason not bring CJ back and he won't command much. Possible it's just him or Peppers but could definitely see us trying to bring in both.

The Panthers signed Addison off the Washington Redskins practice squad on Dec. 4, 2012. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with Chicago in July 2011, but was cut after playing only two games

Brandon Bean made this move when he was GM.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

In 2014, when the Panthers gave defensive end Mario Addison a two-year extension, he celebrated with a trip to Puerto Rico in which he almost drowned when he fell of a jet ski. He's planning a trip to Germany to celebrate his new three-year deal. "No jet skis. No water,'' Addison said. "I'm not dealing with any water until I learn how to swim.'' Good decision.
