11.5M in guaranteed, giving him 9.75 in 2017. Guess it was to be expected for a front-loaded contract.

Very good chance the 9.75 is a $9m signing bonus and 750k salary.  That would be a cap hit of $3.75m in the first year.

Pure guess on my part but second year might be a salary of around $4.5m-$6.5m with $1.75 guaranteed of that salary guaranteed.

He better put on 20+ pounds and learn to control the LoS at the age of 30 to be an every down DE.

Addison needs to perform at TD and Star levels for the money he is getting as an every down player. If he is a pass rush specialist, then he needs to be performing like Luke for the money he is taking up against the cap.

Hopefully, the contract is back loaded with 20-30% guaranteed. That way he can be released in future seasons if he reverts to his old form and never starts.

Which games in particular would we have won? Wouldn't have helped against Denver since DT and Sanders combined for 90ish yards. Wouldn't have helped against Minnesota as their leading WR had 40 yards. No chance I'd hang the Tampa loss on anyone in the defense. Atlanta and NO? Norman would have 100% helped, but honestly, we had Bene, Sanchez and Teddy logging a ton of time and I am pretty sure Ryan/Brees would have been able to throw away from Norman. They had 0 trouble scoring with anyone. Brees threw for almost 200 yards to TEs and RBs.

Norman wouldn't have helped against Seattle or Atlanta round 2 and again, KC/Oakland/Tampa 2 were squarely on missed FGs and/or pick 6s.

IMHO, there were 2 games where not having Norman/our current CBs (and injuries, Sanchez/Teddy started against NO, rookies looked way better in NO 2) made an impact. Our other losses weren't CB related.

As you said opinions are what they are, but when I look objectively at the losses, the missed FGs and INTs (by us at the goal line and pick 6s) had a much more direct impact and were the causes. Heck, I could say Thomas Davis lost us the Denver game when he let Anderson go on his TD reception, but the coaches (wasting 3 timeouts), officials (for being doucehbags) and Gano (for missing a makeable kick at that altitude) are really to blame as they didn't do their jobs. A player on the field for 60-70 plays isn't going to be perfect.

In particular ..

1ST Can we both admit Norman has proven (like Berry in the KC game) to have the ability to make game changing plays....

So based on that i know we win in Denver, Bucs, Saints and Cheifs game..

No way in hell Julio puts 300 yards on Norman.. We still probably don't win that 1st game... But Julio doesn't kill us like that..

Again only being able to target 1 side of the field and taking away every teams favorite passing targets can't be measured ...

I think we also win the Oakland game with Norman and Bradberry taking away Carr's weapons...

Again just my opinion..

It's true, in 2015 @Seattle they didn't dare try his side of the field, resulting in zero stats, but playing a huge part of the huge W that is invisible to the naked eye.

Now, long term, I do think letting JNo go will be for the best, but wasting another year of Cam and Luke's prime without going balls to the wall for the ring is unacceptable.

This. Until we see the full structure of the contract, we don't know the cap hit for this year. $9.75M paid out this year doesn't necessarily mean a $9.75M cap hit. In reality, it hints that the cap hit will likely be much lower than that due to the signing bonus being paid out immediately, but spread out over the duration of the contract.

Once we tag KK, that's nearly half our available cap gone on 2 players. We are not signing anyone big this year folks..

Imo ..

They only need 20-23 million in FA to get another older (DE like Pep or CJ) 2 to 3 mil..

A OT (Kail, Beachem) 5 to 6 mil

A vet Secondary player (perferably a CB or a Safety) 10 to 12 mil..

Last a Wr (Garcone or Cruz) 3 to 4 mil..

Then the draft is 9-11 mil i think..

We should be find on cap hits depending on the signing bouns of this deal..

No one expected Oher to be injured, and he played solid for us.

Coleman was coming off a 7 interception season in 2015, and no one expected the massive regression that would occur as the Panthers realized Kurt's a FS, not a SS, and Tre Boston being Tre. He deserved the contract, and he started doing well towards the end of 2016 anyhow.

So we basically paid him for one good year? It's funny how people teeter back and forth with that on here.

He has had 3 solid seasons in a row now. He got a bigger roll this year and stepped up. 6 and 6.5 sacks the 2 years before as a backup / specialist is pretty damn good.

The bottom line is that Kony Ealy was the only DE we have who was a significant part of the rotation last year who was still under contract. Mario was our leading sack guy. We HAD to re-sign him. Were we going to find an upgrade on the FA market for a 3 years/$22.5M?

If we didn't re-sign him and brought in some typical broke dick FAs, people would be raising hell when we were getting virtually no production out of DE position.
