That's my thought too. Honestly RR and Dave where first timers in their roles for Carolina. Image all you want and be around football for many years, it's different when you're talking GM and headcoach.

I member Logan talking about being a head coach, he had a bit of wisdom. He said "you're either the first to know or last " about many happenings. Dave had to deal with cap hell(which lead to asking gross for a paycut), resign cam&luke, Greg hardy nightmare, hurney contract mess, Steve Smith, Williams mother's funeral fumble, mountain of injuries, etc.

They're certainly learning. I love this new approach.

Shows they do have a heart, and realize they've made mistakes. As much flack as we give our staff, they've opened their eyes on issues. Gettleman jumped the ship early and showed a change through the way he's currently managing the offseason and his change of approach in cutting core players.

Rivera has spoken about a new offensive future multiple times, and so far cutting Tolbert shows a glimpse of that. Now we'll just have to wait until the next season to see the beauty of a true NFL offense in action. 2015 showed us we can reach that pinnacle, we just need to adapt and evolve.

I love this new approach by our guys.

I could be wrong, but didn't several of the players that were angry at the front office learn about their release through twitter or other sources before the front office contacted them?

Was it the Jon Beason trade and Captain or who? I can't remember. We all know why Josh Norman, and Steve Smith were angry. Maybe it was Williams.

You would be wrong.

Steve Smith took the statement that everyone was being "evaluated" as an affront, but he was still told of his actual release in person, as was DeAngelo Williams.

Josh Norman heard the tag was rescinded via his agent, but that's standard as Josh was a free agent at the time. He wasn't released.

These three are all the players that have thrown a fit about their separation. I'm not sure three counts as "several".

People invent their own version of  history to support their agendas.

"This is business, the NFL is a business..." Yet in another thread these same individuals will be hollering how such and such player isn't classy or is classless. Lol

Classy move by both Rivera and Gettleman. Looks like they're learning, or it could be they like Tolbert a lot. Still, a classy move!

    • We couldn't pour piss out of a bucket.
    • I am not a Franklin fan--he was good on special teams, but he was nearly out of control with his mouth and antics.   Good riddance.
    • It’s not a crap shoot. Sorry, but I hate when people say that. We aren’t just unlucky. We have been terrible since the 2017 draft. There seem to be good teams that draft well overall and it’s not just luck. Taking TMJ in 2021 over the best C in the draft or taking injured Johnathan Brooks over a BPA C the year before a historic RB deep draft when we needed a C of the future both times is being stupid. The teams that grabbed the Cs right after we passed where KC and Pittsburgh who seem to know what they are doing. We (the draftniks on this board) have absolutely been better than the GMs/scouts from 2018-2024. I’m sorry again but if you’ve actually followed the draft discussions, it’s been 100% true. Also, just an FYI, the whole reason most people poo on our picks in 2021 was because our OL sucked and Fitterer’s response to that was to ignore the guys like Slater and Darrisaw in the 1st (PFF graded Slater 2nd and Darrisaw 11th among tackles in 2024), Humphrey in the 2nd (PFF 2nd rated C) and take a long snapper over Trey Smith (PFF 14th rated G). Add in Moton and another young G drafted day 3 in 2023 or 2024 and we could have easily had the best OL in the NFL. Slater, Smith, Humphrey, 2nd round G and Moton. That’s what pissed U.S. officials about the 2021 draft when we said nah, we good with Cam Erving and Pat Elflein and just taking an old BC and a terrible overweight Deonte Brown.
