WR John Ross: Ran A Laser-Timed 4.30

For you John Ross fans, well, he's got speed.

During Combine practice, WR John Ross claims to have ran a 4.30 laser timed.

The combine could cement Ross’s status as the fastest player in the 2017 draft (he says he ran a laser-timed 4.30 last week).

To put into perspective, only 13 players have ever ran a faster time at the combine. That's insane.

If he can replicate anything close to that, he's going to turn a lot of heads. He's going to be a guy who'll stretch the field, and he'd certainly add speed to any team in need of it.

Discuss.

Hopefully he can turn the Titans/Jets/Chargers heads.  I like him, but not at 8, no way.

Even with the speed, I don't think he'll be a high first rounder, and I don't want him that high either.

But if he falls into the 2nd, he's certainly an enticing prospect.

Why draft the next D-Jax when we can have the original version in free agency and spent the draft pick to improve the team elsewhere?

Also as fragile as D-Jax is Ross may be more of a injury liability. He's had a meniscus injury in both knees, a torn ACL, micro-fracture surgery and will have surgery to repair a torn labrum after the Combine.

Even in the 2nd round he still is a little rich for my blood. We're not in the position to gamble, we need to knock this draft out of the park and with a injury history like his, Ross is most definitely a gamble.

All of this WR talk is well and good... but we need to take care of the real issue first...

Cam's reliance on a certianly 6 foot 5 wide out who can't get seperation.

The oline does not make a WR get any more or less seperation.

It's addition by subtraction with him.

I'd like to see trade value.

10 years vs 1 or 2

If Ross runs a 4.3 laser at the combine then I would gladly take him at 8. He really is the next DeSean Jackson being mentored by Jackson himself. He has already shown his ability to catch and resiliency from injury with a full recovery.

Let's be real here, we are going to get a difference maker at 8. The only questions are which position and on which  side of the ball will our pick be- offense or defense.

I wonder how he would be on kickoffs or punt returns. Then you would find out who the fearless guys really are. It might come down to how versatile the pick is rather than a 1 trick pony.

I like Ross but I like a bunch of other guys too. We should get an impact guy at 40 as well. Don't think he will be there. But there will be others whose stock drops due to a slow 40 like a 4.6.  It is amazing what .3 seconds can do to change one's perspective on relative speed.

    • I agree.  I think Belicheick or someone said you cut players a year early. Meaning you don't wait until they start to decline. 1 you get pieces if you trade or two you don't have pay out the wazzoo and then regret once Father Time comes knocking.  It's a cold business
    • Probably wont be a popular opinion give the obsession people have with receivers, but the Dolphins would be a better team if they resigned Hunt instead of Waddle.
