I couldn't care less about this show, and if Smitty is on it, I still won't watch. I think it is kinda lame, tbqh, and I will actually probably lose respect for him if he goes on there.

Sucker punched a teammate, put a young teammate in the hospital, was a dick to other young receivers....

...but you'll lose respect for him if he does ballroom dancing on a TV show?

I think pretty much any active player who injured himself in a non-football activity like a TV show would probably draw a generous amount of ire and scorn.

And make no mistake, this isn't a high school dance. It's professional level; it's hard, grueling work and people do indeed get injured doing it. Heck, even the professional dancers who do it for a living get hurt from time to time.

Any active athlete who does this is definitely taking a chance.

Okay.

All of that was relatively early on in his career, and the "dick to other young receivers" is just speculation and opinion, as far as I know. I'd probably be a dick too if put in some of his situations.

He has paid his penance as far as I am concerned. Nobody is perfect and we all have stuff in our past that we regret.

I just feel like, as a show, it has outplayed its novelty. I guess I just don't see how a dancing competition can be interesting after a couple seasons, and for Smitty to be on it doesn't really do anything to change that for me.


To each their own, though. I'm sure lots of people don't watch half the junk I watch on TV either.

Well, for those few that were wondering....no Steve Smith or Peyton Manning. Just announced the cast on GMA.  The chosen NFL player this year is former Giant Rashard Jennings. Only other notable major sports guy is ex Cub David Ross.
