I'm confused....or you're confused.... or both.

From the opening statement:

(clearly tanked the Bucs game, Cam was intentionally sloppy and Greg fell down on the 2 point on purpose)

Sitting Luke when he was completely healthy is by definition not trying your hardest to win as an organization. Of course I don't know about Cam and Greg, that's just the way it looked to me. They likely weren't actually intentionally trying to lose but I bet you they didn't give their all to win that game

Hard to show sarcasm and exaggeration in written word. My point wasn't about Cam or Greg is was that if that Bucs game meant something we would've won it, making our record essentially 7-9.

Umm no. Luke was cleared. Him playing in those games was no more a threat to his health than playing the start of this upcoming season. There's no logical reason to sit him there if you're still trying your hardest to win games. He should've been playing. I'm not happy about it even though it helped result in our 8th overall pick, but it's just the reality of the situation.

I don't think he thought about it and fell on purpose but I think he checked out that game, just like most of the NFL players playing in meaningless games that week. Fringe players may play their hearts out in a meaningless week 17 game but not vets who have no reason to. Better to not get hurt.

What made less sense was sitting a heathy like while playing an injured Cam. That's an argument I can get behind. But not some inside tank job for higher draft picks.

I still question fandom and logic when people try to argue for tanking to climb up the draft boards. I'll take a win any day over finishing last in our division. I'm sure our guys feel the same way.

I agree 100%. I think any professionals should give their 110% in every single game and practice. But that's not the reality. I'm happy to have the 8th pick now, but would've preferred we played Luke, won out to get to 9-7 or whatever even if it meant missing the playoffs and picking late teens.

It's not always the way to go.  Sometimes it's necessary as the Colts and Bucs did in recent years to get their QBs.  Sometimes it creates bad energy and culture for a young team trying to find their way.  For a team coming off a 17 win season, coaching stability, savvy vets, and Super Bowl or bust aspirations, it was absolutely the right thing to do in week 17 of the 2016-2017 season.

Him playing in that game would have increased his chances of suffering a 3rd concussion though, albeit only slightly.

I'm sure someone else could supplement my statement with a legit breakdown on draft history but from what I've read there isn't much discrepancy from picks 8-12 or so. Regardless, I personally will never root for my team to lose. Not even for a #1 pick.

sounds like KK, Norwell will both be given new contracts

I think that's more of what Voth is saying with this than us being big outside FA spenders, but I highly doubt KK is given a deal this year. Bet we lock up both Norwell and Turner, Star, Addison and CJ, maybe even a cheapish extension for Ealy. Unless KK's price comes down I think the best move and the one we'll make is to tag him this year, see how Butler is developing and postpone the decision on KK to next year. Star, Norwell, Turner are all more important than KK in my opinion.
