If they target a defensive end in free agency it should be anyone but Williams. He's on a rapid decline from the player he was a few seasons ago.

Addison and CJ may be gone.  Horton and Delaire better be gone.  Ealy has one more year.  I'm not saying he must be signed, but he must be discussed and strongly considered in this fluid situation with many moving parts.

Resigning Charles Johnson would be a better option.

Mario Williams > Ryan Delaire

Not sure that is a valid comparison.  Delaire is a guy who doesn't play much unless we get hit with a lot of injuries (he was only active for 6 games last year), where as Mario would probably get paid enough that he would be expected to be a significant contributor, maybe even a starter.

Those of you comparing stats of Peppers and Williams have to remember Peppers transitioned to a 3-4 OLB. We don't know what his numbers would be like at his age if he were to move back to a 4-3 DE.

OK sure...doesn't change the fact that Williams had 6 sacks the last 2 seasons and is 5 years younger than Peppers.

Doesn't change the fact Williams had 14.5 sacks in 2014 as a 4-3 DE before Rex Ryan messed with the Bills defense and changed it to a 3-4 in 2015 and had his defensive line drop into coverage rather than attack the QB. You can't just look at numbers without looking at all the details.

Did Williams production drop off on Miami? Yeah. But who is to say Peppers numbers wouldn't drop moving back to a 4-3 DE?

Charles Johnson has more FF than Mario Williams. He is more disruptive in plays anywhere along the line, not just within the pocket getting sacks. Mario is one dimensional compared to Julius. Julius had 4 less sacks standing up in the 3-4 than he did in 4-3 so not sure what your argument is.

And a guy at work today said that a great white shark would win in a fight against a killer whale.

I replied, that not only did killer whales way about twice as much has the great white but they were a heck of a lot smarter. Even the name killer whale had to be a bunch of people sitting around saying
" what do we name this whale"? "Well what does it do?"
" It basically kills everything." "Well that's easy let's call it the killer whale."

Great whites flee from killer whales, and for good reason. Killer whales know exactly how to kill sharks. They flip them upside down, which sends them into a trance, and then they rip out their internal organs and eat their liver. A great white would rather beach itself than fight a killer whale.
