Will Fournette fall to 8 if no QBs are taken?

My argument is that the offensive line makes the running back, not the other way around.  That should be the priority.  That's why teams around the league aren't taking running backs in the first round, and its not because there aren't stud's available. I think teams are figuring out that you can get a stud beyond the first round.  If you look at recent first round RB's anyways, you'll see that you are taking a chance on them as well.  I just don't see any correlation between 1st round RB's and winning/rushing success.

Understood, oline is a big part of rushing success.  In this draft, which is the main focus, o-line is less than stellar.

I'm not suggesting drafting the best RB available at 8.  I'm saying if this one guy is available you take him.  BPA if you will.

Fournette is a special talent and fits a need.  If he's there at 8 it means a couple things:

1) Allen/Adams/Garrett are all gone

2) Our choices of a top 10 pick are diminished and LF is one of only a handful of viable options.

If we are going to address the oline it will most likely come in FA.  We can have a good line provided injuries don't rape us again.  Upgrade RT, move our Gs back to their spots and slap RK back in the middle *boom* solid run blocking.

This notion our line is years away is just wrong.  It can, and IMHO, will be corrected prior to Sept.

Maybe you are right that Fournette is such a special talent that the benefits of taking him will outweigh the opportunity costs, and that he is just so much better than the other RBs that he is worth it.  I just don't think any RBs like that exist, because they will always be limited by their offensive line and the increasing dependency on QB play (which is also largely affected by offensive line).  I can't ignore all the running backs around the league who are getting the job done at a much lower cost.  I really hope that there will be someone else sitting there who plays a position of much higher demand and impact, because I don't want to be picking this high in the future.

I didn't say that our line is years away or that we need to use the 8th pick on a lineman.  My entire point is that the RB position is being devalued for good reason in my opinion....but....if you want to touch on that subject and think it will be corrected that easily...think about the fact that we need to upgrade both tackle positions, our center his getting closer and closer to his next career, and we have two guards who are due for new contracts soon. And this is the same offensive line that probably kept us from winning the Super Bowl in 2015..*boom*...not so solid

No, but it will create a great opportunity for us to trade back, especially with Buffalo on our heels.  IMO, in that situation, we drop back to 12, get another pick, and get essentially the same player we would have gotten at 8 as atleast 2 of the next 3 picks ( cleveland in our position, and Buffalo) will take QB's.

I didn't mean to make it sound like you said that, its more of a general feeling.

The part of the oline that kept us from winning the Super Bowl was mentioned by upgrading RT.

I agree the RB position as a whole is devalued but there are exceptions.
