Wedding bands and engagement rings

I lost mine when dumping a bucket full of soapy water. It slid right off my finger into a ditch. Grabbed my metal detector but couldn't find it. I went ringless for 6 months and hated it. Instead of buying another expensive ring I went and bought two Qalo rings. The wife is cool with it and I'm not out $$$. Plus I don't have to worry about doing things that I would have to take a gold/platinum ring off for. But I never take it off.

I haven't taken mine off for more than a few seconds in 15ish years.  Wife doesn't wear the one I put on her hand on our wedding day because it doesn't fit (and she believes it will again) but she wears one always.

Went without one for about a year after a mugger took my original one.

Before that I took it off at work as I was doing a lot of manual labor back then that could have ruined the ring or my finger if it got caught.

Google ring avulsion injuries and you will see why anyone who works with their hands and wears a ring at the same time is asking for trouble.  I took a precursor course for EMT back in college and the guy teaching it told us all the goulish injuries that happen when peoples rings get caught on something.  he had seen a number of them himself over the years.

Not worth it

My brother in law actually got a new ring that isn't metal (I think it might be rubber) He is in the military and works heavily with his hands.  If his ring ever gets caught up in something it in theory should break.

His wife insisted he still wear a band.

My wife's engagement ring is a two carat princess cut. I don't care if she wears it everyday. I lost my ring shortly after the ceremony in the ocean and I have a silicone ring in Panthers colors for when I'm not working. I showed her a degloved finger and that's all it took for any objections to go away
