If Founette is not there, we need to take a very long look at Foster.  I pretty much consider Shaq Thompson to be a bust.  He looks small out there and to be frank, he plays small.  I know it's only his second year, but considering we traded up to get him, I demand to see more out of him.  To this day, I still don't know why we traded up for him, especially a guy who many NFL teams wanted to draft as a running back.

There are no such questions surrounding Foster.  He has the size and amazingly enough, he has unreal speed.  Not only is he good in run coverage and blitzing, but he is a very good coverage guy.  It might not be a sexy pick, but Foster is well worth a top ten choice in the draft.  With it, we will have our best trio at linebacker since the days of Kevin Greene, Lamar Lathon, and Sam Mills.  Foster will also be TD's true replacement.

The Huddle continues to drop in IQ. Wow.

I haven't exactly seen him shining out there.  If you're a starter, I should be seeing a better impact on the field.  Shaq has zero impact.

Shaq shut down Larry Fitzgerald as a rookie in the NFCCG and is a bonafide stud.  He's a first rounder in any redraft and a young cornerstone of this franchise.  He was our BEST player the last time we actually took the field in Tampa, a game we somehow (thankfully for draft position) lost, helped in large part by the fact our all world TE fell down, on purpose or not.  I could go on, but I won't.  DUMB thread.

Foster has had a tendency to pick up concussions while playing with Bama.

We have enough problems with concussions on our team, we don't need to be drafting more.

While I can get on board with Foster being considered, your damning of Shaq is unfounded.

Shaq is an asset to this team, will be more so in the future and is very similar to TD when he came in. Both were drafted as safety/LB tweeners and both started on the slowish side.

First 2 years:
TD:
128 tackles
3 sacks

Shaq:
106 tackles
1 sack
1 int

Foster is a legit contender. He is a force at LB. Much like when we drafted Luke with Beason still here, it could happen. If it did, I would not question it.

But to call Shaq a bust is silly.

He's graded out positively for his coverage skills since his rookie campaign and he clearly made an impact when Kuechly went down...

But hey, whatever to bash the pick and support your fandom for Foster, right? That's been the narrative around here lately.

I mean, do some of you even watch the games? You bandwagon fans give yourselves away too easily.

      You can keep talking about that cherry picked stat line.  Bryce Young in his entire football career.....has never been a deep ball guy.  Sure, everyone needs that in their game.  He does too.  That's not why we drafted him.    We don't need to try to wish him into a downfield passer.  We don't need to build an O that doesn't play to his strengths.   You know what weren't the best at?  Well below the league average in what we got out of the backfield.  Well below the league average in YAC.  That's easy yards. Those moves the chains.  And Bryce getting the ball out quickly to playmakers is literally why we drafted him......and we immediately traded away those guys right before we drafted him and given him none.

      I see this division being between us and ATL this year and unfortunately, ATL is shaping up to be one of the strongest offensive teams in the league. If they play to their potential, they could legit average 30 pts a game. The season after this one as Pennix develops even more team chemistry? That’s going to be pretty painful for the rest of the division.   Until last night, Panthers were a team that didn’t even have a legit #1 receiver. We all hoped we would, eventually with Coker or XL, but that’s a long shot, and deep down we all knew it. We really needed ‘that guy’ on offense and hopefully we got him. When your receiver room looks like ours and the opportunity comes to draft a legit #1 receiver who had his level of consistent production, you’ve got to take him. There’s no LB, safety, corner or DT that can shape a game like a legit stud WR1. not even close. The opportunity to get a guy like this don’t exactly come along every day. An all-pro edge guy, yes, but that wasn’t available.  Teams that make deep runs have at least 1 ‘that guy’ on offense and defense. Hopefully we can now cross one off the list.

      I wouldn't hate if we took a quick twitch speedster in the 4th, but when you look at the WR room right now with T-Mac, XL, and Coker all in their first 2 years, even with Thielen there, I'd rather pick up a vet FA for that role than another rookie, just to get some more experience in the room. Then once we lose Theilen, unless we hit it right on the FA signing for that speedster role, maybe we look at using like a 3rd rounder next year to fill the role, but that's a problem for next offseason hopefully.
