Pewter Report’s Scott Reynolds expects the Bucs to have interest in free agent DeSean Jackson.

The Bucs badly need to upgrade Jameis Winston’s supporting cast outside of Mike Evans. Jackson’s skill-set would be a solid fit but he's going to have a lot of free-agent suitors. The Bucs are fully expected to move on from Vincent Jackson this offseason.

We will get a slot receiver either in FA or the draft.  Will it be D-Jax? Depends on if there are other folks in the bidding process. You know Gettleman won't get in a bidding war or want to pay top dollar. If they don't want to be here above other places, it won't be happening. Each of you knows that. The rest is just hope.

Could be a smokescreen to drive up the bid, but if Tampa's serious it's worth it just to avoid the crazy headache him and Evans would be twice a year

He's also been a #1 WR in passing friendly offenses. Ginn was never really asked to be a #1 WR.

We have a #1 WR, if he can pull his head out of his ass. We also have a #2 if Ginn stays. We also have a #3 if Funch can be consistent.

So why blow 7-9 Million for a couple years on a guy that won't really make a difference in what we do?

We need to put our money into edge rushers and the offensive line, and we need to draft an RB and some DB help.

DJAX, JPP, or any of these other big name/big money FAs are not the fixes to our woes. Most of our problems stem from injury, coordination, and execution. No single FA, or even a combination of big name ones, are going to fix that.

We aren't the Washington Dan Snyder's. We're the Carolina Panthers.

Arguing that Djax is the same as Ginn is foolish. Dude has made some average QB's look awesome. If he came to Carolina he would have the same impact as Olsen has had. Dude is good.

I'd love to have DJax, but I'm also concerned about potential diva-ish tendencies from him and I'm not sure about sinking big guaranteed money on a guy who's game is heavily based on speed and quickness who is over 30. Speed and quickness are usually the first things that start to fade with age.

Like I said before, if we are going to risk significant money on a big splash WR signing, I'd rather take a chance on Alshon Jeffery. The injury concern might knock down his asking price. Given his hamstring issues, he might be looking at a prove it type deal.
