In the meantime, I'd say, there is a legitimate chance he ends up somewhere besides Philadelphia, and, at age 30, I'd anticipate there being a good number of suitors for his services.

But Jackson isn't the only option. Several league sources anticipate the Eagles being in on Alshon Jeffery (Bears) and Philadelphia was aggressive in exploring trade options in-season on other receivers as well, like Torrey Smith (San Francisco), and they need to add more than one pass catcher this offseason.

It's not a slam dunk that Jackson is back-son (sorry, couldn't resist). There aren't many legit options to add a difference-maker in this free agent class, and while Jackson has suffered some injuries and while guys like Brandon Marshall, Danny Amendolaand Mike Wallace could become cap casualties soon enough and join the list of available receivers, it's still a very shallow pool.

Carolina needs to be in the hunt for him. He's turning 31 before next season end by the way, which may or may not matter

Why?

Unless we don't hang onto Ginn, then there isn't much difference aside from Jackson MAYBE grabbing 1-2 of Ginn's usual drops.

Also, you're looking at about $4 Million per year or more difference for those 1-2 more catches. Totally NOT worth it.

Draft a later round project guy on the cheap and you're good.

LOL! Jackson has 5 1000+ yard seasons, including last season. Ginn's best season was 790.

That's just too narrow of a view imo. While on one hand I hear your point, the truth we have a much bigger issue with our WRs. They don't get separation. Funch and Kelvin are great big bodies WRs but Ginn is the only one that gets space off the defenders covering him. I actually am happy having Funch and KB but we need more speed besides just Ginn.

Im not saying we need a speed demon either. We don't have to target Jackson. But we do need another WR that can get open in space for Cam.

With all that said, I'll be kind of surprised if we do sign a WR this offseason. Not shocked. I just think we will make one or maybe to mid tier signings and they won't be at the WR position.

He's also been a #1 WR in passing friendly offenses. Ginn was never really asked to be a #1 WR.

We have a #1 WR, if he can pull his head out of his ass. We also have a #2 if Ginn stays. We also have a #3 if Funch can be consistent.

So why blow 7-9 Million for a couple years on a guy that won't really make a difference in what we do?

We need to put our money into edge rushers and the offensive line, and we need to draft an RB and some DB help.

DJAX, JPP, or any of these other big name/big money FAs are not the fixes to our woes. Most of our problems stem from injury, coordination, and execution. No single FA, or even a combination of big name ones, are going to fix that.

We aren't the Washington Dan Snyder's. We're the Carolina Panthers.

We have the same WRs that we went to the Super Bowl with, people. Not only that but we've got a +1 number one WR added to the mix.

Yes, I'd like to retain Ginn and find some project guys to work into the mix at 3-5, but we're better at WR than most are seeing.

It is lack of execution (the separation thing is partly execution,) time in the pocket, and scheme. Once they fix those things, we'll be a lot better.

All these "well, that's what we did to get to the SB" arguments just need to stop. If you don't recall, we lost that's SB and then proceeded to go 6-10, so those arguments couldn't possibly be more irrelevant.

Rivera  a talked  need to evolve our offense to talk our offense the burden off of Cam. Part of that plan may well involve upgrading our mediocre WR corps.

Nah man team only win with defense, don't ever mention an offensive player.

Dude can play but am I the only one that would only do this in Madden? His personality is a complete non-starter. Diva who is me first and very vocal. Known to publicly whine.

I would look to the draft or another target in FA. I personally like that we usually avoid these types of guys...or let them walk after rescinding the franchise tag.

    • I was going to say the Dak Prescott scramble a few years ago in the playoffs that ran out the clock before getting one final shot at the end zone. But what happened at the end of the Bears game is a new level of incompetence. Made even worse in that the Bears used two timeouts on that final drive after the prior play was an incomplete pass. That and it sounds like Eberflus tried putting some of the blame on Caleb only for Caleb to indicate he doesn't have the capability to call timeouts and that he waited 20 seconds for him to get that playcall.  My goodness, the game ended when they still had a timeout in their pocket. I can't recall a similar situation like that ever happening.
    • Those are all good guesses.  I wonder if they include incomplete passes, where it isn't on the QB.  I wish they'd publish what the big time passes were. It's helpful to learn their methods. Thanks for checking for us
