Tight end free agent class.

If there's a good TE value, be sure Gman will look for it.

I'd love to see another guy who is able to get open and reliably catch.  I mean, Dixon did make some plays for us.  The crazy fumble return, that kind of insane throw Cam had against a dude's helmet.  But there were plenty of times where he was completely silent and not part of the game for whatever reasons.

I wouldn't mind a young FA TE who maybe was under utilized a la Greg Olsen, or a guy with some experience who wants to win a championship.  I am also interested in several of the TE prospects, but only if the other best guys have been taken.

(I have heard that due to an obscure rule, the ALL THE PLAYERS will be drafted by pick 7....Crazy rule!)

I know everyone is talking about drafting a tight end this year but have you guys seen how deep the free agent class is?

If we could get a guy like Jack Doyle or Ryan Griffin, two solid TE2 that are good blockers, does that not fill a draft need with a proven vet? Plus these guys can't demand more that 4 mil a year. Thoughts?

Thanks for the link, excellent breakdown of the TE class. There are actually some interesting TE's in this year's class.

I think we need to see if we can land a TE in free agency who is an upgrade over Dickson and draft one as well in day 2 . We need 2TEs down the road not 1 and depth is necessary on offense at key positions. If anything happened to Olsen for even a game or two, we would be screwed big time. We need backups who can start if necessary not just play special teams and take up a roster spot.

to me this is simple....try to find a better TE than Dixon in Fa, and draft one to replace Greg eventually.

I echo these. Just to add for sure one should be a heavy blocking one ala Ben hartstock.

this is one reason I'm not so sold on this TE draft class as most others are....a lot of the guy rated in the top 100 are more pass catchers than blockers.

Well that's why you'll likely see the blocking specialist come form FA. You know coaches are like"I can teach him how to block" about these rookies. Colleges have nearly given up on teaching correct blocking techniques. Just get in spread formations, everyone in two point stance, and just get the way for 2.5 seconds.

How about ala Greg Olsen or Jeremy Shockey. Blocking and receiving. But heavy on the receiving not mostly blocking. If we want just blocking we can just line up another linemen or another fullback.
