Chad Reuter's 3 round mock draft

This is a good year to want a safety in the draft also so you could always use Stewart for another year and draft a safety.  I still think Stewart can be productive for us if we get our O-line in order.

I don't want to make the same mistake at safety we made at cornerback last year. I would draft Adams or Hooker at 8 but wouldn't want them starting day 1. Get a good FA safety and draft one as well to develop and groom. I hate starting rookies in the secondary where you need them to be a leader not a learner out of the box

This is a really really good year for CBs. 1st rounders will be going in the 3rd.

After picking 3 CBs last year, I am sure there are some around here that would be disappointed if we spend another pick on a CB this year, but how many people are convinced that we have 3 quality starting CB?

Would not be mad. Would not be mad at all. Fournette is THE guy I want and I think Walker is criminally underlooked in this draft class. He reminds me A LOT of CJ. Johnson is a boom or bust pick, but I'm fine with rolling the dice on a boom/bust OT in the 3rd. We desperately need help there and if Johnson can clean up his technique he has all the physical tools to be a starting NFL LT. Sutton is a guy who can play all over the secondary. That's a valuable guy to have. We'd probably draft him with the intention of playing him at nickel, but he could potentially play elsewhere if needed too.

I'd be very happy with that draft.

Well... Bradberry is a stud (now).

Just saying that you can throw a dart and hit a first round CB in this draft.

It is stupid loaded.

We definitely don't have three starting caliber CBs. Even if you consider Worley a slam dunk starting outside CB (I don't yet), who's the nickel? I don't think he's on the roster right now. I think we're comfortable with developing Bradberry and Worley on the outside, but we're still looking for that nickel. Dirty Sanchez wasn't it.

I totally agree and that is why I think CB is in play in the earlier rounds more then some people think.

I'd argue that anyone who thinks it's not in play hasn't been paying attention or simply doesn't understand what they're watching.

McDermott blitzed like mad this past season for two reasons. One, he knew the secondary was a serious liability and two, he realized we lacked a dominant edge rusher. We couldn't rely on our front four being able to consistently create pressure before our secondary got torched.

CB is loaded this year. It will be interesting to see which one slides into the second round. May very well be BPA on our board when we're on the clock. I know it's not a popular choice around here especially after GMan going haywire last draft but I would not pass up a potential stud to buddy with Bradberry. Also would love Corn Elder as a NB.

It should ABSOLUTELY be in play.  In a deep cb draft like this you don't pass up the opportunity to get a stud just because you burned 3 picks on that position last year

I agree, there just seems to be more needs than picks in the early part of the draft.  I really hope we can address the OT position in free agency so we can use a pick on a positions of need that is actually strong in this draft.

RB/TE combo  is coming in the first 3 rounds.

Sanchez wasn't really a burn. It was a deep CB class and lots of mocks had him going earlier. Boom/bust CB. 5th round picks are just purely potential. Sure, some work out, but 90% of picks after round 4 are likely to be STs at best. Go look at any draft and you'll notice that you have heard of a few guys from round 5-7, but most of them are guys who've done nothing to very little.

Also, we normally use 3 CBs and always have CB injuries. We have 2 penciled in, so drafting another isn't a waste. In 2016, we lost Norman, Tillman, Bene and McClain. We do actually have a need at CB. I like Leonard Johnson, Lou Young and still think Sanchez may work out, but those guys are likely not front line starters, they are depth at best.

Oh I'm not disagreeing at all. CB is a need for another quality starter and depth. With Sanchez its going to take time the only question is if he'll make it on the field to improve with game reps or will he always be behind vets or future draft picks. My only point was that we shouldn't overlook CBs just because we drafted 3 last year.
