We need to move on from Gano. Anyone have any info about Zane Gonzalez from ASU? Looks pretty solid.

As an Auburn fan, I think our current K(Daniel Carlson) is one of the best college PKs I've ever seen. How many times have you see.ESPN put that FG range line on the 43 year line? And he splits uprights from 50 on a regular basis. And when Gonzalez won the Groza Award, I wanted to be pissed. But Gonzalez was every bit as good. I would go as far as a 5th. A cheap K for 4 years. He's much better than Aguayo.

Daniel Jeremiah said he's spoken to scouts who have given Gonzalez the highest grade given to a kicker.  It might take our 4th.  But if he's that good and we haven't cut the one that MUST be cut and/or signed anyone else, DO IT.

Hell yeah! Gano was 78.9% last year.

The numbers, at least for last year, are slightly misleading.

A higher number of Hauschka's kicks were shorter.  He had one field goal attempt of 50 plus yards which he made while Gano made 3 out of 6.  He had 10 forty plus yard field goal attempts, while Gano had 17.  Gano made 14 of 17, Hauschka made 8 of 10.  The percentages for the longer fg's were very similar Gano just had a lot more of them.  Hauschka had 13 field goal attempts 30-39 yards, and made all 13 of them, while Gano had 11 and made 9.   Inside 30, Gano was 4 of 4 while Hauschka had 13 attempts, and made 11.  Gano hit a better percentage of extra points.

Based just on last year's numbers, this is at best, a lateral move.

At this point, I'm ok with drafting Zane Gonzalez in the 4th and saving $3.25M in the process.

That extra $3.25M can go to another player or KK's contract.
