How Bad is Luke Joeckel?

Lets see.  He was bad at RT, forced over to LT in 2014 and graded out as one of the worst OT in all of football.  Made the switch to OG after he couldnt cut it at OT on one of the worst OL in the NFL that rivals David Carrs OL in Houston to start his Career.   Sent to IR in October with a knee injury.

But some will still say on here how we should throw him the $$$ because Cam needs help on the OL.

Good good, lets throw $$$ at garbage to replace garbage that has been graded out higher than the one were throwing money at smh  Maybe we can throw a big contract at Brandon Lafail and Hakeem Nicks as well since KB and Funchess struggled this year as well.

Obviously if they cost a lot it isn't worth it. None of the tackles that have been named recently should be that expensive. If a team wants to throw big money good for them. If you can bring guys in on the cheap to compete why the fug wouldn't you?

At least Oher had shown something in the past that showed promise. Everything I gather about Joeckel is that he never has done anything to inspire confidence. At best, he's a project that is slightly better than someone we can draft on Day 2.

I just think he could excel with a coach like Matzko helping him immensely.

If we put him in Oher's spot beside Norwell-Kalil, and say we draft Howard at 8.  That would/should be Shula's wet dream.

OT help for Cam, a TE duo of Olsen and Howard, with Howard's blocking ability utilized to support Joeckel.  Joeckel would be surrounded with some serious talent and a QB waaaay better than anyone that has put on a Jaguars jersey for the past 5 years.

All of a sudden, there is some potential LTs hitting the market.... Reiff, Peters, Joeckel, Kalil. Nothing earth shattering, but, IMO, as much of a risk as Oher was a couple of years ago when we signed him in FA. Sure were a lot of negative comments about him.

To clarify, no one is saying he should be the only or premier OT acquired (I don't think or certainly hope not).  Remmers may be gone too.  The fact that he has experience at multiple positions on the line for a depth signing is a great positive.  That, combined with the faint hope he lives up to the #2 overall player potential make him superior to Matt Kalil, again, who has more serious injury concerns and an extra year of sucking.
