Hence the reason I said I wasn't looking to argue about the amounts and that I didn't spend a lot of time to looking at comps.

Also I went high on a lot of the amounts because it helps to illustrate the type of space we have to work with for the next few years.  Also to show that we can indeed add outside free agents along with resigning on own.

LOL. My bad! My eyes immediately went to the numbers and popped out!

The Huddle doesn't seem to realize we gotta re-sign and lock up some of our boys. By the time we're done, we won't have enough to spend on a 34 yr old OT who will demand one more big payday.

I'm going to ask a favor of you. Will you please please, continue to spread awareness of realistic expectations for the upcoming panther off-season?? You're be much better at dealing with this group than I. Since the group is huge, I'll be there for support when needed. But your communication skills are better at handling this dreaming bunch. They don't understand simple as this is - kktag + 8mill rookie pool + 10mill 2017 insurance + resign panthers = not much leftd. But you know for sure the masses will be waiting with Thier complaints and bitachin....

I'd say not having a LT is worthy of cashing in on the insurance.  Not to mention cutting Stew, not tagging KK, etc., etc., etc.  WHATEVER IT TAKES to protect our franchise.

I agree with protecting cam. Just happens to be a awful awful time to improve LT spot. You're aware of that fact, right? Plus if you cut stew, now have another spot to fill, a big one in panther starting RB. I posted a thread on potential cuts. If one of those happens AND the player is willing to take about 6mill per, our prayers may be answered. I'm also fairly sure oher will be cut in the coming months. I know this will not satisfy you, but Dave already signed 3 LTs. Each of whom where on practice squad, he is trying and it's not even the Ufa signing period. Tryus Thompson was starting LT for OU while Williams manned the RT, but he's a long shot.

If he goes complete el-cheapo at LT he should be tarred, feathered, and flogged at the intersection of Trade and Tryon.  Cam Newton is our franchise, a talent like no other, and after all that happened to him and this team in 2016, one of the multiple possibilities mentioned on this board of LTs with quality experience in this league must be attained.

Trade KK to Browns for Joe Thomas

Some fans will always poor-mouth because that's what they've been programmed to do. The fact is, LTs are generally the third or fourth highest paid position on a team, and 9 mil per year is approximately average, while 12 mil is on high end (for better performers).

It comes down to whether you want to protect your QB or not. If you're unable to do so via the draft, then you're going to have to pay. You can't protect your QB on the cheap forever.

As long as he can give us two good years, then we're good.

Yeah we can't keep going cheap or wait for yet another young below average tackle to suddenly become good. We've wasted 6 years of Cam by not protecting him. His best LT he's had was Oher who was average to below average at best. It's time to start taking the position seriously. Our SB window won't be open forever.
