Leonard Johnson brought a spark to be sure, but the real reason they may not be high on him is this:

"According to Pro Football Focus, nickel back Leonard Johnson missed 11 tackles in 10 games. Zack Sanchez – who like Worley and Bradberry was drafted in 2016 – was absolutely not ready to be on the field."

Can't have that.

Wow. I don't even remember him missing a lot of tackles. Good find. He struggled in coverage down the stretch so I thought it was that but this definitely factors in. I feel like Rivera and DG are still hoping to get something from Sanchez on the field. By most accounts he looked decent in TC. Was absolutely horrible during the season when he was brought up but may have just thrown him into the fire way too early. I'm not holding out hope but I can't imagine they're giving up on him, despite cutting him a couple times and letting him sit on the PS. Possible we sign Captain to a 2-3 year deal and see if Sanchez can just develop behind him for the next couple years.

Good find. I would imagine that has something to do with it for sure.

Would love this, our young secondary needs a solid veteran nickel.

Not to mention that I still have my #41 jersey in the back of the closet!

I think that he's still one of the best nickels in the league, and we need experience in the secondary, especially when we start a new rookie stud at SS.

Captain will come here, be the best corner on the team and get forced to the outside because of it and get torched. The huddle will implode. If the other corners can step up enough to keep him on the inside it would be a great move.

I wouldn't really consider Captain and Worley/Bradberry to even play the same position. Bradberry and Worley fit outside and that's only where they'll play. Same with Captain at nickel unless the need arises because of injury, but he'd be playing out of position on the outside. Nickel and corner are extremely different.

Yet when he was hear he was forced to play outside a lot due to lack of talent at the position. Same with Bene

Not really that much after he got a shot to play there and showed he couldn't. Part of the reason we let him walk is because he was convinced he could play outside and be paid like an outside corner. Rivera didn't want him outside here so we let him walk and get paid more than he would as a nickel here. Vikings took a shot in their scheme and started him there for a year, he was bad and they moved him back to nickel where he's been great.

Bene's a little different. He didn't have the size or physicality to be an ideal outside corner in our scheme but he actually fit there better than inside. Could play both reasonably well but I think the broken leg really affected his play a lot more than thought.

He is better than anyone we have now....I say get him

Now as far as Peppers goes...no way do I ever want him in a Panthers uniform ever again

lol another example of how clueless this fan base is. Some 7th round draft pick talks crap about team this past season and people willing to bring him back.

Second best player in franchise history and future first ballot Hall of Famer never speaks negative word about team and is not welcomed back.

the cluelessness and immaturity of this fan base never ceases to surprise me. That's why it did not shock me to see 51% voted on the Panthers official twitter account that they wanted to see the Falcons win the Super Bowl. Do you honestly think Patriots fans have given this franchise any thought since they played in the Super Bowl and harbors any ill will towards the Panthers? Absolutley not.

All I know is I can't wait for Peppers to be back next season and I think the odds are better than 75%.

Yeeah Captain will be great against all the 6'4-6'5 receivers in the division.

Yea that's why he's a slot corner.

Cap was forced to the outside when we had poo corners and he was forced to play against those tower WRs when he should be covering the Welker/Edelman/Cook types. The coaches and players knew/know what he brings and how good he actually is. He can also play STs as well and contribute there.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-top-25-nfl-cornerbacks-this-season/

Our Bradberry was 22 and Cap was 23

https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-5-best-nfl-cornerback-contracts/

The Vikings had all of their corners in the top 32 and we could join that list by taking Cap from them to go with Bradberry. Draft a S in the and/or get Berry and our secondary would be beyond poo hot.
