They don't need to get married just to get married. Get married because you want to and it makes sense for you and you get sweet tax breaks come April/power of attorney when you become a vegetable and want someone to pull the plug because when you were a kid you watched your grandmother slowly decline into dimentia and you made a promise to yourself that you would never let that happen if that horrible disease ever strikes you so you discussed the very topic on numerous occasions with your girlfriend at the time, but then realized that you really do love her and intend to spend the rest of your life with her and trust her to make that tough decision to let go of your physical body while holding on to the memories and spirit that once inhabited the shell that lays before her because that empty husk is void of those memories itself so she will respect your wishes and let you die in peace and hopefully meet up in a possible afterlife with all of your wits about you again.

 

But yeah, don't get married just to do it.
