The Pick: SS Jamal Adams, LSU

Offensive tackle is a big need for the Carolina Panthers. By the time the draft rolls around, we could see Ryan Ramczyk or Garett Bolles in this spot, but no left tackle makes sense in the top 10 on value as of today. What does make sense for the Panthers is adding an alpha male in the secondary like Jamal Adams.

Adams is a treat to watch given his size, physical style of play, speed and what he offers as a mixture between a coverage safety and an old-school in-the-box killer against the run. As far as erasers go, Adams can match up with tight ends and spy quarterbacks and even has experience lining up in the slot as a cover man.

My comparison for the LSU star is Kansas City's Eric Berry with more strength. The Panthers need that type of playmaking and leadership on a secondary that's again facing a ton of turnover in 2017.

Wed have to hope he would drop that far. It's definetly plausible , if there's a early run on QBS it'll cause alot of players to drop.

It's going to come down also to which players the chargers, jets, and jags value the most as they're the teams above us most likely to take him before we do..

I like it. Him and Fournette are the top of my list. What I don't know is how that shapes the rest of our draft though. I love the idea of taking Fournette in the first and then going heavy on oline. Does takings safety change the philosophy of the draft? I can see how we draft Fournette and then compliment him. How do we compliment Adams?

I think the Panthers are better served going after Tony Jefferson and Cyprien that hoping for Adams and Hooker to be there at 8. I think the offense needs more help than the defense. I really believe that OJ Howard would provide the most impact for this team in terms of beating our rivals. The Falcons and Bucs used a lot of delayed blitzes against us. Force their LB/S to have to guard one of Olsen and Howard out wide. Also get Curtis Samuel / Alvin Kamara. We need a back that can also run routes and be hot read when the blitz comes.

I don't see Panthers going back to back safeties.  I would def take Jamal Adams at 8 only if Hooker isn't there..  Can't go wrong with either Adams or Hooker.  Hooker is more of the Earl Thomas centerfielder safety and Jamal is more like a young Darren Woodson type.

My question with this particular mock draft is Mixon in the 3rd... I mean the kid is an amazing talent, but unless our Front Office meets with him multiple times, I can't see them drafting him...

Let us sure up the back end with Jamal Adams.

If not there and Fournette is not there take J Allen.

Then follow the BPA practice on key positons.

Add a great TE in the 2nd if we can but if not a DE.

In the 3rd add an OT if the value is there and if not add a DE.

The comp 3rd if Joe Mixon is there take him.

I would like to get a future All Pro safety but if not a safety that can replace Tre in talent.

For Rb, we need someone who can carry the weight if JStew gets banged up.

For DE, we need a complete DE that is versatile and also need a pass-rusher that will replace Super Mario one day.

We a TE that can grow and one day be the future replacement for Thor.

Our OT situation is bad, we need someone who can defend against speed rushers desperately.

Our WR situation is not as bad as some suggest imo.

I blame the coaches for not evolving. Not adapting game plans, forcing a system that does not fit the personnel, and Hurney making this organization timid on spending.

Everyone needs to stop making Joe Mixon happen, he will never happen.  If the draft were 150 rounds long and he was available on day 17, we would pick Tommy the head Chicken flipper at the Rockhill Bojangles over Joe Mixon.  This isn't about what Rivera or Gettleman want, Jerry would never allow it.
