I think it is almost a lock. 

Pats have the following at home: panthers, chiefs, Texans, bills, jets, dolphins chargers, and Falcons. 

You can eliminate the chargers, Texans, bills, and jets right out of the gate. Nothing compelling about those games. 

Miami wouldn't be a big enough draw. 

Leaves Chiefs (yawn), Panthers, and Falcons. My guess is that the Falcons open in New England and then get to open their dome a week later on SNF against the Cowboys or Saints.

From a ratings purpose I don't see why the NFL would opt out of having a rematch of the SB in week 1.

If it happens, it has to be in NE. Super Bowl champs get their first game at home the Thursday before the first NFL Sunday of the season.
