You realize he can play DE, right, and is by far BPA if he's available.

You do not pass on the 2nd best guy in the draft if he falls in your lap.

I sure hope the first 7 teams share your same sentiment. He would play end for us, and play it well I believe. He's 290 lbs, doesn't have very wide set hips and played DE in college. I think that he's a DE for a team that likes a big front, US. We have always had bigger DE than other teams. Johnson/Hardy were about the same size in their prime.

I'm not saying he's a DT based on his size, I'm saying he's a 3tech or UT based on watching him play. He didn't have the bend or agility a DE needs.  If we did get him I'll hope I'm wrong, but I'm hoping I don't have to hold my breath on that.

Exactly!! Our front 4 would be ridiculously feared around the league if we landed Allen. Classic 'rich getting richer' for our defense. Imagine Luke, TD, Shaq and our DB blitzes with those 4 occupying space and forcing pressure.

But wait, I thought VB was the KK insurance person?

fuging exactly. You can't keep picking the same damn position in the 1st round every year or other year. Pick something else that'll help us. It will be a waste to pick a DT or LB unless our prospect we draft is some world beating talent who gets a hell of a lot of playing time over well establish starters.

Hmmm.....

^ When mentioning Allen, he is listed as a DE.

Dude is 6'3", 294 and has 22.5 sacks over the past 2 seasons for a top-3 school. He might not be JPP or a 6'5" 285 pound athletic freak with 4.5 speed and a 10' wingspan and 37.5" vert.

What he is... is arguable the 2nd best player in this draft class (I have him neck-and-neck with Jamal Adams). He's the kind of player, that if he falls, you take him, and sort it out later. And honestly, I meant that he was KK insurance at worst case.  He would literally be our starting DE in 2017 and would work on honing his weight training and film to fine tune his ability into a solid 4-3 DE.

Yes, Fournette would look nasty next to Cam. Yes, Adams or Hooker are top fits for our needs. But we do have a huge hole at DE and a rotation of Allen, Ealy, and re-signing Addison or CJ (cheaper and better tutor for Allen) would be nasty. Please see Allen for what he is.... a flexible DL that can play inside and outside, and not another DT.

Nice draft. Hard to pass up Tanoh in the 3rd but Samuels is a versatile player than we can use in a variety of ways on offense (maybe not with Shula). Don't know who Nacua is but I do know Mayes. So for that reason I would rather take Mayes.

Yeah, Mayes is a solid SAF that I would be happy with. For me, I liked Nacua's flexibilty to play SAF, as well as that hybrid big nickel/moneybacker potential, IMO. Mayes is a solid all-around SAF that would be great in Carolina too.
