How about this for a trade scenario

Cleveland owns the pick number 12 and the number one pick in round 3.

The math almost works perfectly for #12 + Cle 3rd rounder for number 8 overall.

What if.....they give us #12 overall + Joe Thomas for #8 overall?

Unlikely but if they value Thomas as a third rounder....

Thomas doesn't want to leave Cleveland....at least that's what he said.

Someone who doesn't even go to the draft where he is almost guaranteed to go in the top 5 would just retire if he didn't like where or what he was traded to.

you don't think playing on a team that just went to the Superbowl and has a former MVP at QB is enticing who has been losing his entire career?

Of course Thomas is going to say he loves Cleveland- he's a professional always has been, which is further evidence for him playing for us.

Not saying it's going to happen but it wouldn't NOT happen because Thomas wouldn't agree to play for us.

I'm guessing they have been offered a 3rd for Thomas in the past.

Or think of it this way; how many team would be willing to give up a 3rd for Thomas.  I would guess a lot, therefore they know they could get more then a 3rd.

Also, at some point they are going to have to develop a QB. What better way to help a young QB then give him one of the best LTs in the league.  In that regard I don't know if I would take a 1st for him if I was the Browns.  Lets say they draft Watson, who in the first round would help him develop more then Joe Thomas.

Kalil isn't very good, but neither is this OT FA class. Every one of them that re-signs just makes the class that much shallower and weaker and gives the other FAs more leverage.

OT's seem to be hitting the Draft less and less.  Like it or not Williams and Oher are probably our day one starters.
