So our tackle is still in concussion protocol?

More than four months after first reporting concussion symptoms, Carolina Panthers left tackle Michael Oher remains in the league’s protocol, coach Ron Rivera confirmed Thursday.

“He’s still in the protocol, (but) getting better,” Rivera said during a break between radio appearances at the Super Bowl media center.

Yeah, already discussed.

It's still a little unbelievable that people think we should seriously trust Oher after all of this?

I think it was @AU-panther that stated that DE was our biggest need until CJ and Addy are re-signed, but I still say LT.

If he isn't out of the concussion protocol by now that is a fair statement.  The point I was trying to illustrate was that positions like RB and Safety have previous starters under contract for this year whereas DE is just missing players.  Even an injured Oher has a better chance of contributing then a play not under contract.

I do agree though that I'll be disappointed if we don't bring in some help at the tackle positions even if Oher is healthy at the start.  It is really scary how long he has been out.

Were Remmers and Williams really all that bad? I think the biggest problem on offense has been Shula, not the tackle position. The line as a whole was decent down the stretch even without Kalil and Williams and having to move Trai to RT... Building up safety and/or DE to bolster the defense and make it elite again is more important than the OL in my opinion. But making significant changes to our offensive scheme remains the most important to me. Because our defense can't do much when they're on the field the entire game because the offense can't sustain drives. Run (for a yard) run (another 2) pass just doesn't really do it, especially when you're QB is essentially the entire run game...

We aren't taking a tackle at 8 and if people reach for tackles in the first I highly doubt we take one in the 2nd. Honestly the value at DE/S is early where you can get impact guys in the 1st/2nd who'd normally go earlier. Unless one of the guys like Ramczyk, Robinson or maybe Bolles drops to 40, the value is middle rounds because none of the rest of the tackles look good. Even Davenport is a project. All the guys people talk about got eaten alive at the EW and Senior Bowls. The DLs owned all of the tackle prospects and that includes Garcia, Bisnowaty, Banner, Davenport and McDermott (still amazed after what I saw of him getting turnstiled in the 2nd half that someone said he was the best tackle). L

There hasn't been 1 tackle yet in the all star games that has a chance to protect Cam this year. All of them are potential. I think the guards who might be able to play tackle (Dawkins and Lamp) fared a lot better.

We aren't taking a defensive player either , its going to be RB/ TE

DE/S will either come FA or lower rounds.

Okay so this will be a poo post but I would like to know if it is possible for a player to "Game" the concussion evaluation?

Oher is a very big man who appears to play angry and I would never suggest this to his face, but I'm wondering if he's taking advantage of the Panthers by sticking around to get paid without having to play.

I've had co-workers in the past who have done 'just enough' to get paid.

Not how the NFL works.

I don't know if it's possible, but nothing in Oher's history suggests he'd attempt such a thing.
