Howard could be it..I think it depends on how smart they think he is and whether he can block..which I think he is plus in both those areas...We have been shuffling looking for a 2nd TE. If they think he can help in pass and run protection he will be the pick bc we need help along the line and there is no tackle worthy of the pick..Plus if he proves to be smart like Olsen you have got to pull the trigger. Thats getting help in all 3 phases run and pass blocking, also as a receiver.

My bet would be on Howard.

If the ones that you listed are off the board and he's the highest remaining player on DG's board, why not?  We already know DG is very impressed by the kid (unless you subscribe to the theory that what DG was saying at the Senior Bowl was "smoke", which I do not).

Meh. Mocks are mocks. Largely a waste of time, and hardly worth a brouhaha.

Lance Zierlein at NFL.com mocked us Cam Robinson. Now you tell me what's OBVIOUSLY wrong with this picture:

Cam Robinson - OT, Alabama: Robinson at No. 8 would be way too early for my taste, but he has tremendous size and power as a run blocker, and the Panthers might feel they have to reach a bit to find help for Cam Newton.

I like Cam Robinson, but later in that same draft he said he had another tackle as the best tackle in the draft. Well why in the hell did you mock Cam first??

I don't think corner is that big of a position of need to Gettlemen?  Me personally, yeah.  I wouldn't mind it.  But, not in the First Round.  I would prefer a safety, DE, or even a TE like Tiger stated.

I think that Gettleman is going to do what he's always done with the pick, and that's choose the BPA according to Gettleman. I don't believe that he is going to be restricted by some sense of need, and I pretty much know that he isn't going to feel the need to draft an inferior player at a position of need when he can improve the Panthers at another position, whether fans or analysts feel that he needs to or not. It's all going to come down to how highly he has a player evaluated---where they fall on his board.

You need to tweet him that.

I already tweeted him about Gettleman expressly saying he will not reach.

Yeah, but that position makes sense, because Robinson would be at a need (even though he isn't that good or worthy of the 8th pick).  Now a CB?  When we Drafted three last year?  That's just horrible dude.

If DG and the staff evaluate and see a corner that they're 100% sure will be a lockdown shutdown corner on the outside and think they could move Worley to nickel then I could see a CB happening. Sanchez was a flyer who didn't work out. That being said with what we know about DG and how he values the CB position as well as having confidence in Worley as a starter, this is indeed extremely unlikely and doesn't make any sense. Especially when Barnett is sitting right there.

Just think how DG values corners though... In Rivera's D their really plug and play scheme players. DG built the foundation there with Worley and Bradberry last year so unless there's a CB who is by far the BPA and somebody who will transcend the position in Rivera's D AND we can move Worley to nickel then I really don't see it happening. It's a possibility but I would bet that there are 5 DEs this draft above the best corner on DG's draft board.

I seriously doubt that there are five ends above the top corners on Getty's draft board. Even simple probability lessens that likelihood. But, we'll eventually get an idea from workouts, rumors and @Jeremy Igo's "whisperings." I'm looking forward to the process.

That's not a bad pick honestly. We did draft 3 CBs last draft.. Bradberry is great. Worely was decent in the last quarter of the season but he's far from a proven commodity. Getting Humphrey , you have him compete with Worely for the #2 CB position and if he's good enough we'll have two potentially high tier CBs in Humphrey and Bradberry and at least a solid guy coming off the bench in Worely . If you get the #1 player at any position in the draft I don't think its a bad move, we could easily get the #1 WR , #1 TE, #1 OT, #1RB, #1 LB drafting at 8 and I wouldn't be upset with any of those picks. The only real bad move I think, would be if the Panthers do a massive reach and end up drafting the #3 or #4 DE at pick 8 that's not worth it since this draft is massively stacked at DE talent.

Their other picks for us include Round 2 : Donta Foreman (RB) , Round 3: Justin Evans (S) , Round 4 : Roderick Johnson (OT) .

Not bad in my opinion.

Question.... Could Luke pull off playing MLB in a 3-4 defense?

Ron mentioned Wilkes background in a 3-4 and I'm not trying to say we should convert over, but converting to a 3-4 is the only way I'll be ok with drafting Foster.

KK - Star - VB

TD? - Foster - Luke - Addison

If Fournette is off the board, I know we're going defense for sure.  Wouldn't shock me, and I wouldn't be mad at all.

IDK, with Gman's love of the D, I think Foster is the pick even if Fournette is on the board.  Foster is a damn beast.
