Alien: Covenant

I'm kind of pissed they do this poo to Alien movies...  none of them tied together.  Now, they releasing Alien covinent that has nothing to do with Prometheus... They make Alien movies with questionable endings like it's a sequel and then just make totally new movie...  This is what?  Like the 5 movie over the last 15 years that  ties to nothing?

In 2012, writter said there will be 3 prequel movies before they redo Alien...  After the Prometheus and weird ending, they are skipping the other 2 sequels, leaving poo load of holes and basically remaking first Alien....

Prometheus was tied in in a way. I didn't live up to the promises Scott said it would by answering questions like: where did the aliens come from, what were the space jockeys? It just made more questions. It did show us what the space jockies were and that they can create creatures. It was assumed they created the xenomorph we all know and love. The one that showed up at the very end, resembled it quite a bit.

Plus, having Peter Weyland in it, showing the space jockeys, cave drawings of the xenomorphs and being located on one of two moons of the planet from the first Alien. There are two moons to that planet, the moon that the Nostromos landed on in Alien was LV-426 and the moon that the Prometheus landed on was LV-223. Somehow someway the space jockeys or engineers if you will, made that black goo. Whether it's a weapon or not we don't know. What we do know is that somehow someway it can make xenomorphs.

Covenant will be set ten years after Prometheus. So it is a sequel to that. Shaq, from Prometheus and David are both in this movie. We don't know what happened to them after they left LV-223. All we know is Shaw said she wants to see where they come from and why they want us dead (referring to the engineers). That's where Covenant picks up at, just ten years later. Looking at it in a continuity stand point it's like this: Prometheus, Alien covenant. Alien and Aliens. Ridley Scott has said after Aliens the others are not canon. So, they are prequels to Alien but covenant is a sequel to the prequel haha sorry it's confusing. I love these movies. Nothing beats Alien though.

I didn't see Prometheus. Is it good?

This seems like the perfect kind of movie for Danny McBride to try out his serious acting side.

It's ok. They made way to many plot holes like Arsen says, but hopefully they will answer them in this sequel. Most comedic actors can play serious roles well. I am anxious to see it.

Man, I had such high hopes for Prometheus.  The opening sequence was amazing.  Where man kind came from.  I wish they would do more to discover more about the Space Jockeys, their culture, do they still exist?  You can still teach us about them while scaring the pants off of us.

I'm not holding much hope for the continued development of the story in Covenant.  It will still be an Alien film, but the actual story is going to be so random and disjointed.  It will make some sense for the film, but not much in the rest of things.

I'm an Alien/Aliens fanboy and love the universe but this really needs to not suck. I think Alien 3 is better than the general consensus (esp. the director's cut) but it's all been downhill since then - Resurrection was unique but a bit weird and Prometheus was awful. The AvP movies don't count (though they weren't very good either).

Well rumor has it that this movie is based on the space jockeys home world...take that for what it's worth. Here's a crazy thought, what if the space jockeys are us thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of year into the future. They are going back in time to warn us no to be like them, we don't listen so they wipe a lot of us to "start over"...ok tin foil hat off.

This will be a sequel to Prometheus in a way. The Deacon is in it and David returns too. So it'll be tied to Prometheus one way or another but it won't be a direct sequel. I'm excited but I wish Ridley would have gone with his original idea.

Prometheus was a bit of a disappointment. A great cast was wasted. It wasn't a bad movie but I can't help but wonder had Lindoff not written the script...

More Space Jockeys please.

Agreed, but it's ten years after Prometheus and it takes place on the planet Shaw and David went to at the end of Prometheus. It was supposed to be the Space jockeys home world...let's hope it is.

Now that would be interesting to see how that story is told!  I'd love to know how that idea could be communicated to the characters in the film while being chased by monsters in the shower.  I'll probably catch it at some point, as I have with the rest of them.

Il post a YouTuber talking about it. It actually makes sense the way he describes it. Even going into detail about the flutes the jockeys play to turn the ship on and the design of their ship is like the god particle machine. I wouldn't put it past Ridley Scott. Of course, it was rumored that a jockey was sent to earth thousands of years ago and performed miracles. He then was sentenced to death via crucifiction (ring any bells) and the jockeys are on a war path to destroy mankind. I don't but this theory though. Although, there are many subtle hints to metaphors with religion, I do not think he would go the direction. It sounds a bit much, even for Ridley Scott.

here is the video. It is about 20 minutes but if you don't have much going on at the moment, it's worth a watch
