Wait, Michael Oher Never Cleared Concussion Protocol?

Well, this definitely would explain Gettleman's pessimism concerning Oher as of late.

Now, question is which of these dumb poos of reporters should we trust?

Anyhow, according to Person, Oher is still in concussion protocol:

Four months after entering the NFL’s concussion protocol, Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher still has not been cleared from it, according to a source with knowledge of Oher’s situation.

Very much a concerning development. But, this article does mention another detail that explains his horrid performance against the Vikings:

Quote

Rivera has said he’s not sure when Oher was injured, although a source told the Observer that Oher likely sustained the concussion before the Week 3 game against Minnesota. Oher gave up three sacks and committed a holding penalty in the loss to the Vikings.

Obviously that explains his awful performance, and gives optimism that when healthy, he's a viable starter.

Rivera mentions in that article he expects Oher to be healthy for 2017 as well though.

The real issue is this article refuting David Newton's article on Oher clearing protocol:

Quote

Carolina Panthers left tackle Michael Oher is out of the concussion protocol and already preparing for the 2017 season, according to a league source

Again, this article was in December and says Oher already cleared protocol.

Very interesting and unusual flux of misinformation. Certainly hope Newton is right in Oher is okay, but not sure.

Oher is critical in how much of a necessity it is for him to be healthy and back. Even with any FA acquisition, Oher is more of a sure thing instead.

Cleared or not cleared, we need a new starter.  I wouldn't wanna touch anyone who's been in concussion protocol for 4 months.  Dude should just retire.

For sure.

Concussions are no joke, and the fact it's lasting this long is concerning.

I just really wish we caught him with that concussion before the Vikings game.

I feel we can squeeze a few more seasons and have a backup ready to take the reins soon, but as long as Oher is perfectly healthy enough for it. I can tell you football players love the game a ton, and they'd hate for any injury to hinder them from completing it.

If he's still in concussion protocol after 4 months he's done. I wouldn't believe any self respecting doctor would clear him to ever play again.

4 months with concussion symptoms is long term health problems. Time to retire  good luck in the future blindside
