Now there I agree with you. I'd love to hang onto Remmers as a versatile backup, but if we go into the season with Mike Remmers penciled in as a starter at OT, then it's a colossal failure of roster building.

My predictions for the o-line, bold, but a possibility...

We sign Matt Kalil and draft R. Johnson from FSU in the 2nd. LT done.  We move Turner back to RT, resign M. Remmers as a backup, then move Williams to RG.  Larson stays as a backup at center behind Kalil, obviously, Norwell is at LG, Gino will be the back up at both guard positions.  Yankey and an UDFA OT to the PS.  Just my two cents.

Check it out if you can handle the results. I'm fairly sure Remmers started after the awful Vikings game in 2014. Add in the magical 2015, then til oher went down in 2016. But its much easier to ingore this and keep dumping on the guy.

I'm not saying we should not try to upgrade but if he isn't starting materiel then a lot of the tackles in the league aren't either.  Only difference is some teams and QBs account for this.

Agreed. We can have success with Remmers at RT, but the rest of the line has to be solid because we'll have to provide Remmers with help against speed rushers. But, that limitation does really impact our playbook against those teams. Well, it should anyway. As you alluded to, Shula doesn't seem to give a fug and keeps calling the same poo anyway.

MV%doe is just being hilariously defensive of Remmers. I don't think anyone has ever really attacked Remmers personally. The guy is a former UDFA who works his ass off. IRS not his fault that he's a limited NFL player. He makes the most of his abilities and most of us, me included, would love to retain him as a backup. The guy can fill in all over the OL and that's very valuable. But relying on guys like Mike Remmers as long-term starters with no real effort to upgrade is a big part of what led to 2016.

Might be our best bet for the coming season.  Let a 5th rounder learn under him for awhile

I would agree with that.  Everyone wants to talks bout his age but he is one of the elite tackles in the league.  If I'm reading this correctly he graded out as the 2nd best LT last year.

According to the article he graded higher then Thomas.

Even if he starts to decline some he is probably still better then most of the other options we have.

If there is any question about Oher at all you almost have to be willing to get a little stupid with what you offer some of these guys.
