Hopefully you're right but as we have seen over and over and over again Gettleman value guys wayyyy different than we do and even other "experts".  Every single year he has drafted players several rounds ahead of where other people said they should go. So don't try to predict his moves

What do the experts and we really know? DG has like 30 years of experience and has a group of 20+ peeps going out and evaluating guys. I find it funny that some people on here actually think they know more than the panthers do.

Again, GMs and draft analysts are two different hemispheres of drafters.

Unknowing to the public, many NFL drafters may value a player more than the media does, and that such could lead to what is perceived as a "reach."

Most of Gettleman's picks that appear to be "reaches" were probably 1 round high at the most. He's had mostly 25 and below picks in the draft, and drafting late each round is like drafting a high pick of the following round.

By this logic, which I'm perfectly fine with, he shouldn't be in a interview talking about how he doesn't reach....because ultimately our big board is going to look different then anyone else's. So the whole I'm not going to reach for a oline notion is confusing....

Gettleman is his own man. If his board looks different from the rest and he believes in it, of course he's going to say they aren't reaches. It's just how it goes. But I do trust his opinion on drafting over the people at the networks. There's a reason why they aren't in any team's war room

’ll tell you right now, if you overdraft a guy, you’re going to be upset. The coaches are going to be upset. The team is going to be upset. Everybody’s going to be mad at the guy, and it’s not his fault. ... No, he was a sixth round pick, and you took him the fourth round.

... I just will not reach. No matter how bad the perceived need is, I’m not going to reach.”

LOLZ, says the guy that Drafted 3 CBs (and reached for the majority of them) because he let go of Norman.  I'm done taking anything this fat F U C K says seriously.

I'm assuming his "I don't reach" comments are for other teams. Because we know otherwise considering Edmund Kugbila, and last years CB triple dip.

I like Gettleman, but sometimes I wonder if he has too much trouble getting out of his own way at times. His arrogance is funny for sound bytes, but it isn't going to produce winning seasons.

I don't get the whole I won't reach quote, most analysts and many experts consider some of his picks to be drafted rounds ahead of where they're projected.

The whole not reaching for ot's I get it but you gotta figure out some way to get a guy in here for the future. I just feel he has some rule book he strictly follows when drafting and it sounds good but doesn't make sense....

YEAH! Mel Kiper totally knows what he's talking about. Wish he were in charge.

Lol at Gettleman "reaching" for CBs last year.

Bradberry was a fugging steal looking back, and teams were ready to jump on him if we didn't draft him where we did.

Seattle would've snatched him up. Then after hearing the Falcons reporter talk about how Dan Quinn looked at Bradberry it all made sense

One was cut and the other really didn't stand out stat wise or performance wise against other rookies in his own draft class (Worley) so yeah.

Bradberry would've been picked in the damn 4th round.  While he played well, he still was for sure picked way too early.

Based on what? some mock on the internet?

Unless you have access to every team's draft board its pure speculation to determine what is a reach and what is value.  All it takes is one other team willing to draft him to make your spot to draft him the correct one if he is a player you really like.

Says Who? You?

Na man, Mock's had him being taken in the 4th round or later.  The majority of analyst had him taken way down there as well.  While he was good, we still ended up as the 27th worst defense vs the pass.  So, he didn't make that much of an impact.

I get it.  Believe me, I do.  But Bradberry was looked at as a potential 4th round or later pick by everyone.  Hell, the kid himself was fixing a damn toilet when he got picked.  What does that tell you?
