Revisiting the 2005 Panthers-Cowboys Screwjob.

Matt did have a great game. but if you notice something, the offense was able to move down the field. and our O-line is better now. we might can do it, if the officials dont screw us. by the way. the first screwjob, Ken lucas said he tipped the ball first. Is it any wonder why we hate the cowboys so much?

That was 2 years ago, with that logic we should never get rid of Jake because he looked good in 2003.

the following season after that finish he was replaced by McCown as the #2. The lack of logic is on the coaching staff. Panthers could have had a shot in 07 if Fox would have put Moore in sooner....and it was painfully obvious he should have done it a few weeks sooner. He didn't.

Jake in 03 has nothing to do w/ the argument.

I'm expecting a very crooked game tonight.

The Cowboys are a huge market team, and as a franchise, haul in hundreds of millions of dollars every year for the NFL. Jerry has a lot of clout with the league. He wants a win in his new toy, and I think the league wants to see it happen in order to keep him happy. This is primetime, and a huge storyline. A loss would be devestating for the Cowboys and the league. The refs will be encouraged to do everything in their power to see to it that Jerry's kids win in that new $1.5 billion eyesore.

I was in the stands for that game. When Smith got ejected, no one had any idea what the hell had just happened, I didn't know until I watched the highlights later that night. And the roughing the kicker call, wow, words couldn't explain how pissed off the fans were and how ridiculously obnoxious the Cowboys fans were.

i WAS THERE it was Christmas eve, We didnt have a clue what happened to Steve Smith. On the way out there were a million Cow Puke fans chanthing "THis is Our House" I hate Dallas

the deal was. Lucas tipped the ball before peppers even touched the kicker. so it was free for all for the ball. Instead the refs said no, peppers roughed the kicker 1st down dallas.

The rule is:

"A member of the receiving team may not run into or rough a kicker who kicks from behind his line unless contact is:

(a) Incidental to and after he had touched ball in flight."

Peppers said himself he didn't touch it. Lucas did. The penalty was on Peppers because he had not "touched the ball in flight"

I don't think it is limited to only that player. If two guys come in on the block, the kick is blocked and then one or the other touches the kicker it is okay as long os the contact is after the block. The controversy was whether the ball was actuallly touched which I remember them saying it wasn't

You know the thing is, is that we would have made the playoffs if we won that game.

not necessarily, but we wouldn't have fallen out of contention.

moreover, the cowboys WOULD have fallen out of contention had they not won that game. it was a must-win for dallas, and the calls went as such.
