People who think that Shula is just some idiot with a box of crayons in the press box amuse me. Go watch film if you think his scheme is the biggest issue.

Its not that he is dumb obviously he has some brains, but he does not maximize the talent and skill set of his players very well....he has no plan when his original plan falls  ..i for one would like to see what another OC could do with our offense. I agree most of the offense success is on the individuals skill set.not the play calling or play design of Shula.

Not saying that the disaster of our offense falls solely on him, but he picked the players that are on the offensive side of the ball. If he can not figure out how to use them then it is his fault. The difference between a SB coordinator he knows his players and have play designs that can get the players the ball..if we choose jump ball men that can not create separation on their own ..then you are saying you that the coordinator can scheme them open..It is  what he chose to have...The reason why NE and Falcons offense is good is because they have versatility. But when Gronk or julio go out their coordinator is good at play calling and design knowing which player will be effective in a certain situation.

We do not have this with Shula not even last year.

Not that it doesn't work sometimes, we saw that in 2015 and in some parts of games in 2016. The problem is that once teams adjusted, we had 0 answer. We saw this in 2015 as well when he would get big leads and then it seemed like we couldn't get a first down in the second halves, even against some mediocre Ds. After the 2015 season, defenses seemed far more ready for our offense and it took great individual plays to score.

It was just annoying too see end of the season and see us continue to struggle with the same issues. I don't have high hopes without a big offensive talent infusion and less injuries. If Shula is still here then I really hope he's spending every waking moment improving the offense and preparing to surprise folks, including better pre-game preparation.

We need to become more versatile having Cam , Olsen, and stewart is not enough anymore..we need a back that can go the distance and a shitfty, fast Wr..having Ginn is not going to do it...holding byrd for ransom is not cutting it..If he can not contribute cut him and move on..no need in holdingguys without giving adequate play time..its either all or nothing with this team..i just don't understand why they didn't ease Kb back into the season while giving some of the other WR opportunities..same with Rb .keep using tolbert and fozzy but not giving cap or  the other Rb playing time.

Regardless of our pick at 8, if any of these (edit: predicted first round) guys we're talking about are still there at the end of the first, do you think DG will try to move up from 40?

Moving up from the 2nd round to the 1st is a lot more expensive than it used to be.

1st rounders get 4-year rookie contracts plus a team-option 5th year.

All other draftees, 4-year (maximum) rookie contracts only.

Teams no longer lightly surrender that 5th-year option.  If a team wants to move up for that, they have to pay.  I highly doubt even our 2nd plus our (high) 3rd would do it.   In other words, there isn't a high chance it would happen (though its not a zero chance either).
