I was hoping to read through this thread without any posts like this one to restore my faith in humanity, but here we are. Thanks for the reminder.

If you are searching for humanity on a internet message board you will never find what you are looking for.

HPV is running rampant. Basically anyone who has been sexually active has had it. I know lots of women in the same situation as her.

Vaccinate your teens, people.

As someone who used to work under the CDC during the HPV meetings... You have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning.  No disrespect but the general public is completely ignorant to hpv and cancer in general. What is really running rampant are the citizens who choose to consume acidic foods and fail to exercise on a daily basis who spread their germs from one week immune system to the other.  People we have to educate ourselves on the immune system first before we cry the sky is falling.

Please don't tell me you're talking about a link between acidic diets and cancer...

Cancer cells thrive in negative ph environment. The body is designed to be alkaline. When you consume acidic foods over and over again you are creating an acidic blood stream.  Thus creating a perfect breeding ground for cancer cells. Cancer cells can not defeat an alkaline immune system it is biologically impossible.

Conclusions

Despite the promotion of the alkaline diet and alkaline water by the media and salespeople, there is almost no actual research to either support or disprove these ideas. This systematic review of the literature revealed a lack of evidence for or against diet acid load and/or alkaline water for the initiation or treatment of cancer. Promotion of alkaline diet and alkaline water to the public for cancer prevention or treatment is not justified.

didnt realize how many physicians are on the huddle.  also, if you cannot grasp how ridiculous the concept of peer review is in regard to honest inquiry, then there is no help for you.

This ^^^

I represent and work closely with a lot of insurers and read a ton of "expert" reports and not just peer review but also examining physician reports as well.

I am not saying anything one way or the other about vaccination because I am not a physician, I don't have an opinion on it and I think it is an individual choice but for those quoting reports, etc here is the bottom line: you can pay an expert to say anything, I see it every day. These opinions are bought and sold at will. People are too quick to put stock in whichever one or ones support their world view, ie, they employ inductive reasoning. Not a good way to think when it comes to your health or that of your family.

Bigger picture I hope Erin will be ok.

Yes, please contact your gynecologist or family doctor/pediatrician to schedule an appointment to talk about getting the vaccine. It's three shots over a 6 month period iirc. You can contact your insurance company but they should cover the cost.

Pap smear screening does not begin in females till age 21 but I reiterate you are definitely a good candidate to receive the vaccine and if you are sexually active I would highly encourage you speak with your doctor about it.

I fuged thousands of chicks in the 90's I'm sure I don't have it.

Guys do not show genital signs, however there is a growing trend of HPV induced carcinoma of the throat. Very much worth it for guys to receive the vaccine prior to the age of 26.
