KK wants 17 million a year?

I left for an hour and told myself the next post you make will be about Hurney. You have to let the ex go man and just realize your current girl ain't that much better.

Dude...

You go out there and say if DG lets Norman walk and then KK walk he should be fired?

Same GM that has gotten us to 3/4 NFC South titles and done so while repairing the "cap hell"

Have some perspective, man. DG has earned it and, thank god, does not have to listen to fans like you or I.

Perspectives like yours are what makes for teams like the Brown's... just fire GMs and coaches whenever they have a down year or 2.

We are saying that the juice isn't worth the squeeze on this one.

KK is good, no doubt. But he is not a dominant force or irreplaceable.

You make someone the highest paid DT in the league... there had better not be games where they dissapear.

I dont think anyone is against tagging him. But paying him 17M a year just cus "DG needs to prove that he pays his players"

DG would be dumb to sign him to any deal that was more than the tag. Why pay 17M for what you can get for 13?

Cus next year we are either in the same boat or saying "man, glad we didn't marry that player"

Your logic seems to indicated that we should never pay anyone the top of the market unless they are absolutely the top of the market. If that's the case not a lot of people are going to get paid here. I trust Gettleman and his ability to draft, but at some point you have to pay the guys you have especially at a position that you value more than just about any outside of the QB. You could tag him which I am not opposed to but the market is just going to keep going up especially with Aaron Donald coming up soon. So what do we do if we keep on waiting and AD sets the market at 19? Do you pay 18 when you could have had 17?

This why I never fell for the bullshit excuses  from the beginning. The man is cheap and arrogant till proven otherwise and its rubbing off on the rest of the fanbase. Might as well trade cam and Luke a blow it all up cuz were not winning poo anytime soon. Good luck trying to completely draft a superbowl winning team under rookie contracts. I don't know why people think this team is some sort of damn dynasty that can win under any circumstances, they are lost.

Right. The excuse is he is trying to prolong the window by not overpaying guys. Thing is he is closing the window when it should be wide open. This should be Cam's absolute prime. DG should be doing everything to set this team up for success. I'm not saying be Marty Hurney and give the likes of Olindo Mare huge contracts, all I'm saying is pay guys that are supposed to be building blocks. We were all told that this team is built from the front 7. Okay, pay guys like KK and Luke, add more pass rush and find cheap corners. But when it comes to put up or shut up DG is folding.

Couple of things to remember

KK's agent is not his childhood buddy, Gman will probably not have to guess about the agents intent, Butler was not brought here for nothing

DT in a 43 vs 34 means you have a much decreased market for your services.  CB on the other hand is a position that every team utilizes, this gives us a bit of leverage

If the link is believed to be true, KK wants 17 million and we say we won't go above 15. If we are within 2 million back load it or have roster bonuses in it to give him the money he wants in a total deal. As long as you don't give him too big of a signing bonus  or guaranteed money it doesn't matter what the overall number is if you don't pay it all to him. Or you franchise him for 13 and change.

Yea, that is pretty much what I am saying.

You pay the guys who are elite and fill the rest of the team with average to above average players.

This begs the question of "does KK fit into the elite, non expendable, class"?

He is 29, we drafted his replacement, we run a 4-3, the draft is deep at DT, he was not the dominant force he was a year ago and we have the ability to tag him... I have to say that he is not a must-sign player.

His is a position that can be handled by 2 "B" players. If he was a 25 year old A+, multi time probowler, I would sing a different tune. That is... if he was Aaron Donald.

But he is not.

If you go signing guys to max contracts because they are "your guys", then you will soon find yourself back in cap hell with no ability to retain your players, much less "shop intelligently " in FA.

And when that happens, the exact same people on here calling for DG to be fired for not spending money will be calling for him to be fired for not having any left.

The successful teams let player, who have priced themselves out, walk and keep long-tenured front offices. If you are watching the AFC championship game right now... you can see two of them.
