KK wants 17 million a year?

Per Rotoworld.

If this is true...dueces!

Panthers would do right by themselves to keep Addison and all the other linemen and draft Dline this year as well. Move in Butler inside.

Solomon Thomas would be a key addition as well.

Would a tag and trade scenario work or do those usually don't? I don't remember it ever working out in the draft?

Alright, I've been notorious for not reading whole stories when I post trash on the tinderbox, so I'll fact check this statement:

"If it happens, it happens," Short added. "I need to be professional about the whole situation." Every player would like to land a long-term deal and avoid the tag, but that might not be possible in this situation. Short is likely looking for a deal near the $17 million per Fletcher Cox landed from the Eagles, and the Panthers were reportedly not willing to go over $15 million annually last summer. Like with Josh Norman last offseason, the Panthers could be headed toward an extended standoff with one of their top defensive players. For what it is worth, Short did say he would sign the franchise tender if it came to that, but a report was quickly leaked to Pro Football Talk walking that comment back. Jan 3 - 10:50 AM

This is old news. KK looked for that price range last season, and really they need somewhere to start.

This is a report assuming that KK is looking for Cox money as well, and does not mention his agent or himself speaking of $17million.

Hold your horses on this one.

IMO it's always been DG's intent to tag him. The sides were too far apart during Rd 1 of negotiations. That sealed KK's fate IMO. I didn't and still don't think he's That level of elite.  The tag buys an awesome talent for another year, gives Butler more time to develop, and provides more data for evaluation. Win-win.

Thanks for clarifying.

    • I hope Stewart isn't even on our list of potential 1st round picks and is really low on our list of 2nd and 3rd round picks. He just had a terrifying lack of production for a top 100 pick. He's the type of guy you take a late round flyer on to see if you can make a football player out of an athlete but a pretty good P5 college program failed to do it so your odds aren't great.
