Official Matty Meltdown Thread: Failcons VS Packers

Some people are way too emotional about this.  Falcons are legit and have been for awhile.  Our best bet to them not winning the bowl is if the Pats beat them.  Even if the Falcons do win the SB....so the f what?  We gotta get to work either way.   If they don't win they're still the guys to beat in the NFCS.

You said the same thing about Green Bay, excuse me for not trusting you.

Lol. I didn't.

I said the Falcons would easily sweep by them. GB's defense is swiss cheese.

Your upcoming matchup isn't in the safety of your georgia dome. And it's against a legit offense + defense.

Either way you spin it, it's looking a lot like the Panther's run last year.

That's why I wanted the Cowboys to win.

They would've been a better match against the Falcons, especially at home.

They would have definitely matched up better.  But I still think they would have come up short.

I don't know. They showed a lot of fight against Green Bay.

Plus I think the Falcons would significantly reduce in explosiveness if they aren't at home. Crowds have a huge psychological factor, which is why I was glad we had home-field all throughout last year's playoffs.

I felt we always made it close away from home.

Their home record this year was 5-3.  Away record was 6-2.  They're a good team wherever they go.  In another dome probably wouldn't have been an appreciable dropoff.

Eh. Dunno.

Either way, still pissed the Falcons are in the Superbowl lol.

I just hope the NFL treats them the way they did us.

Those are facts but yeah...no one knows for certain.  BTW I'm not thrilled about it either.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
