So I have a question

Popeyes, and the closer you get to Louisiana the better the Popeyes.

I feel as a Carolina boy, I'm supposed to say Bojangles. Spending 5 years on the MS/LA gulf coast tarnished me I think. Now, if you asked Krispy Kreme or Dunkin, it's KK all day. The Winston in me won't let me say otherwise.

Yeah I love Popeyes and they have shrimp and fish man I'm telling you I could eat that every day although I won't because I will get as big as a house

Growing up in Winston I ate so many of those things it's a wonder I don't have diabetes. They were everywhere always and free usually. Makes me nauseous to think of them.......but I'd eat 2 anyway.

Every time we'd go visit my uncle in Raleigh, he'd have us some Smithfield's BBQ. They seem to be located primarily in East NC. Didn't have any in Winston and the closest one was in GBoro.

Yeah I know, I live in Asheville and only get it when I pass through Greensboro or when I'm in Raleigh.   For fast food it's the best I've had anywhere and it's not even close.  But there are couple of  local joints up here that beat those big chains the OP listed.

Hardees amazingly has good chicken to me. If you can find one that still has it like the one in Kenansville. Some of them only have chicken strips.

.The Hardees near me is great. They're always apologetic about "it'll be a few minutes so we can cook it fresh". I tell them I would prefer it that way.

Guaranteed to make bad things happen inside you. Not nearly good enough to be worth it

It takes guts. I've been getting takeout from Price's Chicken Coop for 55 years. It's a Charlotte icon. I don't get there as much as I did when I worked a block away.

I know it's an icon. I don't think it's any good at all. The real problem is I've tried 3 times and nearly poo myself instantly 3 times. I'm currently on a cycling trip through SE Asia and I haven't been sick once. That place is gross.

But eat up if you like it. I just find it disgusting.

Yea, churchs do give out some big pieces of chicken. When I was going to A&T, churchs and Mrs Winners were the go to chicken spots because they were cheap, close to campus, and they looked out for us students. Plenty times I'd go through and they'd put an extra piece of chicken in my box. Man, I ate so much chicken and Cookout while there. I'm burnt out still on all of that lol

Man who you tellin, when I stayed in Riverwalk my room was right there at Mr. Winners. I remember plenty of late night trips to get that 2 piece dinner meal lol

Fried chicken is exceptionally easy to make well if you are making in small batches. Soak, season, and clean oil at the correct temp. It's trying to make a lot of it quickly where skimping becomes obviously.
