For the record, it's been verified that the interview was conducted without a gun to Proehl's head.

So can we dispense with the dumbass conspiracy theories now?

If you're willing to over-look the fact that it took nearly a month to step down. If it was a truly a promise to his kids, he would have told the people that need to know before/during the 2016 season. So you know it's the professional way of handling with company that's given you so much. Instead of waiting while numerous teams hire&fire WR coaches during this waiting period.

I'd bought the story if prohel stepped down two days after the final game.

It's not like it's an easy decision. It's something you take your time with. Sure, you can focus on the "promise" if you want to, but I'd be willing to bet that both of his boys probably told him that he didn't have to honor any such commitment that was likely made in a sentimental moment when they were younger. As mature young men who grew up around the business, they are probably acutely aware of what it can mean to retire from a coaching job in the NFL, not to mention pulling their father from an organization (the NFL) that he had been a part of for so long. They likely told him to take some time, think about it, and make sure it's what he wanted to do (not to mention his wife being in his ear telling him that once he does it, he has to see it through). A couple of weeks time---if it was even a couple if weeks---doesn't really support the notion of a conspiracy theory, taking into account all the dynamics of the situation.

Life decisions shouldn't be taken lightly.

The last game was Jan 1 and we found out Jan 17. How is that nearly a month? Thats like saying  6 might as well be 10. We also have no idea when he informed them.

I agree with taking time, but that time is during the season. Let's just say OK sure he leftd for whatever. It just puts the team is a bad spot, I mean there's a group of draft eligible WRs and free agent WRs. Be nice to have a WR coachs' input on those groups or even hold meeting with them. Or even tell the scouts what he wants/needs form a rookie. Plus let's not forget both his sons are in state. Even if they where in California, Skype is a thing. Just upsetting cause WRs need plenty of help to rebound form the disappointing season and the guy who played a big role in bring them here and bigger one in development is gone.

Timing is just werid, but I understand what you're saying.

I can at least see the logic in saying Rivera has a hand in the offensive philosophy. However if the point of debate is Dorsey not being anice effective QB coach it does not make sense to say Rivera tells him to be ineffective.
