This class of FA is really not all that bad. I think it has to do with the lack of OTs that makes it seem that way. We could use a DE, S, and a LT. We very well could get solid starters out of the DE, and S positions. But that OT one? May not happen. Things may change, as they often do. But as of right now. the LT FA pool is rather shallow.

There is talent out there in FA. And we have money to spend. This is going to be fun. I tell ya what.

I totally disagree with your notion that this class isn't bad. I've looked at a few list on a few sites, all are terrible. Bunch of aged 30+ backups sprinkled in with some disappointing draft picks. Smart teams do not allow talented pros to hit free agency. A lot more of this philosophy is being used by teams now. Plus member a player has to want to sign along with "fitting" with the panthers. At least we agree on LT class= awful.

4-3 DEs, I mean Addison and CJ are in the top five.....Ugh. Sure JPP is here, just hard to figure his case out. I have no idea if he's able to keep grip strength with 2.5 fingers on his right hand. My guess is no, but I'm sure he'll swear he can. You cannt lift it, if you cannot grip it. Margus hunt is a player that is a dave-type signing, maybe.

Saftey- I mean Eric berry is a FA, but I know better than to believe he's got a realistic chance of being a panther. A few names, but do they "fit" what being a DB for wilks&rivera is? Tony Jefferson maybe a solution.

Still watch in the coming weeks when player after player resigns, further weakening a weak class.

Well he did listen to you when he signed Boykin.

Can you tell Dave who is going to get hurt in 2017.  That way he can go ahead and grab some really good backups at those positions.  That would have come in handy when Oher went down.  If he just knows exactly who is getting hurt next year it will make it so much easier in free agency.

Sure.

Dear Dave,

Count on Stewart to miss a few games. Better have a backup at middle linebacker, Kuechly has missed games the last 2 years. Oher is likely to miss games or even retire. Also don't count on rookies to last all season. As Bradbury said, in the NFL they hit a lot harder.

And of course work on good depth, not just projects or unknowns behind the starters since it is likely there will be a few unexpected guys that get hurt.

Oh and don't run Cam so much, he is tough but refs don't give a crap about him and allow more head to head contact with quarterbacks than I have ever seen.

Oh and as far as Boykin goes, the docs really missed that hip problem. Could you make sure they really do their due diligence before we sign any free agents so you can sign someone who will actually make the squad.

You didn't listen  last year about what to do so how about paying better attention to veteran leadership and locker room presence and sign guys like KK, Addison and Ginn. Or at least bring in some vets instead of starting rookies again so we get off to our usual slow start until everyone gets it together. Like a physical safety who can lay the lumber like Mike Mitchell or even Harper. Coleman isn't physical enough.

Just saying..,

Thanks.

Bradberry and oher were hurt in the fourth game

Not even that. Oher didn't even finish game 3 before our line was shaken up for the rest of the season. I don't think some of the people who post here everyday pay much attention to things that don't fit their agenda

Yes 1-3 showed it was clearly because we weren't healthy. The point is we sucked with and without our starters. And another slow start under Rivera...no agenda just facts.

Or is your shitty ass point 1-3 is good?

Totally agree with this.  G'man pretty much ignored FA to focus on the draft.  From this standpoint it's good to be totally out of the post-season this year.  G'man has time to evaluate on all levels, self scout, free agents, go to the Shrine game, senior bowl, whatever..., and our guys get more time to rest up / heal up.  It seems like a short season was needed all around to help everyone regroup.

Well with this, here's my question: Let's say next year we have a great season and make a deep playoff run. Will we go through a let down the following season? He's going to have to learn how to be a GM even if he doesn't have as much time to evaluate due to a deep playoff run.

I can't figure out what was so hard since he didn't pick up anyone in free agency of note and the one guy they did, Boykin should have been disqualified by the doctors exam. Really he had almost 3 months to figure out the draft and he had a whole team of staff to do it. Unless he is trying to do it himself which could be a problem  when you hire people and then doesn't let them do their job.

I agree with you, man. I'm just going along and trying to get some understanding from the folks who said he didn't have enough time due to our deep playoff run. But believe me, I agree with you and don't think that should be an excuse.

I'm not sure it was only the lack of time, though I think it was a factor.  I think it was the lack of time paired with the Super Bowl curse (complacency).  It's too easy to think that continuity following a SB run would equal continued success, and rest on your laurels.  But the time crunch in addition to complacency could have meant less thorough evaluation or attention to free agency.
