Ricky Proehl thinks Steve Smith will come back (eventually)

As a dedicated employee of this website that is woefully underpaid for a job I habitually underperform at, it is my unofficial duty to sometimes provide click-bait to start up a conversation with you guys so Zod can keep the lights on. Not really but here is an observer article with everyone else's favorite underachiever (I kid, I kid) Ricky Proehl where he talks about 89 coming "back home" to be honored, and even chimes in that he does in fact believe it will happen. So those of you with #89 tattooed ever so caringly on your lower backs, hold out hope, and continue to fight the good fight!

“I have talked to Steve. I think eventually it’ll happen,” Proehl said. “I think he wants it. I think he should do it, to be honest with you.”

I was hoping to see a pic of Smitty and @Montsta with his face blurred out in this thread.

I'm calling no joy on that.

I'm probably the only person here that Steve Smith actually blocked from his Instagram account, so I don't think I'll be getting Christmas cards and insider updates from the man any time soon.

    • It will be interesting to see who is still available at #4.  There could be a player someone drastically needs and will be willing to give up a nice haul to get him.  Getting an extra round one pick in 2026 would be nice.
    • First of all, I think we should fix as many areas as possible other than QB going into 2025.  Young has played well the 2nd half of the season and needs more evaluation.   I think DL should be our focus whether it is Graham or Carter with our 1st pick. I wouldn't be sad if we used our 2nd round pick on another D-Lineman.  It will be much easier to get a WR on a one- or two-year free agent contract than to pick a WR that could be JAG.  This also gives XL and Coker another year to develop.  Our free agent picks in 2024 for the D-Line were, IMO, designed to complement Brown.  Once Brown went out those players were mediocre.  We need to have insurance in case Brown comes back and doesn't perform to his pre-injury play.  Sadly, I think we should move on from Evero.  He doesn't seem to have the heart for this team.
