Ricky Proehl retiring?

I am buying Proehl's statement.  Makes perfect sense...keeping the promise to his son.  If he was forced out it would be strange for him to be that detailed about it...the generic "spend more time with my family" would do in that case.

I swear I think some of you want to blame Gettleman for global warming right now.

Please....

For that to be true, you'd have to believe he made up the story about promising his kids he'd step away for them.

Both Person and Voth say it's his choice.

I've been away from my computer all day I did not know that Voth reported that

You clearly have a bias if you're ignoring what Proehl and reporters said and choose to ignore his explanation

lol Ok.  I clearly have a bias.     I guess if I came home and found my woman in the bedroom with another man and she said "hey he was just here to help me fix the ceiling fan" I'd be biased against her if I didn't believe her

am I getting this right?

Our receivers seem to have a problem with creating separation. Not saying Ricky Proehl was the problem, but maybe we will find a receivers coach that can help our guys out. I think he was ask to step down, but that's just my opinion.

Shh, you can't teach effort. Maybe someone who's a little tougher though can push them so I agree.

If you ignore everything both Proehl himself and people with actual inside knowledge of the team are saying in favor of your own theories - with nothing to back them up but tinfoil hat level conspiracy thinking - then yes, you have a bias.

Tinfoil hat level conspiracy thinking?

alright man hey.  everyone has their opinion.   Igo thinks there's something to it so let it be that.

Will say that someone should look up the word bias in the dictionary,   Because not believing something your told because of your own analysis of a situation is not a bias sir.   good day.

Like I said people forget the team Gruden left was also in the super bowl.

you right.  I completely forgot about that.   My only thing with gruden is that I don't know why every team under the sun wants to offer him boatloads to coach again.  As far as how good of a coach he was back in the day.  I don't really know.   I think I was like 14 when the bucs won the superbowl lmao

From The Observer (link)

Ricky Proehl summed up his decision to step down as the Carolina Panthers’ receivers coach in eight words:

“I’m just trying to be a good dad.”

Being a good dad means different things for different people. But at a minimum, it means being around for your kids and their activities - in Proehl’s case, sports.

Coaching in the NFL doesn’t leave much time for watching other football games, something Proehl learned the hard way the past three seasons while his older son, Austin, was developing into one of North Carolina’s best receivers.

Proehl told his son when he left for Chapel Hill that if Austin became a starter and impact player for the Tar Heels, he would give up his coaching gig so he could watch him play.

On Monday -- after a two-hour meeting with Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and a sit-down with coach Ron Rivera -- Proehl made good on his promise.

“Your kid’s playing ball and they score that first touchdown and the first thing they do is look up at Mom and Dad. However old they are, that never changes,” Proehl said Tuesday. “And for the last three years, Austin’s looked up and I ain’t been there.”

“I just want to be true to my word,” Proehl added. “It’s as important to me as it is him. I get more enjoyment than he does, probably. I just want to go see him play his last season.”

But yeah, I'm sure thats all a lie he's making up out of loyalty to the team that...just...fired him?

Whatever the reason, it just creates more flux within an already struggling Panthers offense. Also if Dorsey is out too that would just leave Skipper and Shula. There would not be a better time to just scrap everything and start over and let new OC take over everything and be a part of the WR Coach, QB Coach hires as well.

Now in saying that...I am just wishfully thinking. I have a clear biased against Shula.
