Atlanta is winning because they are effective at running the ball with Coleman and Freeman

Dallas is the one see because of their run game

New England looks invincible because of the duo of Blount and Dion Lewis

Laveon Bell has single handidly changed the steelers season

Ron is right. We need to run the ball better to lengthen drives and take some pressure off Cam.

What are you really saying?

:)

One thing holds true about the NFL. A effective running game allows you to pass anywhere on the field. As much as the running game has been devalued, you still need HB/FBs to win.

In order to lean on the running game, the team must also have a defense that can hold a lead and not fall down by 2 scores to start a game. It would also help if the Panthers defense stopped giving up a score on the opponents opening drive. They allowed 7 opening drives to score, and 5 of those were in division games. While the running game is dependent on the offense executing, it is more important that the defense allow the offense to use the running game.

You're right. Running the ball every 1st down in a Super Bowl which limits the amount of attempts to make something happen downfield and becoming so predictable that a defense can tell you don't make any adjustments and can recognize what you are going to do before you do it is no big problem at all. And then following the same formula the following year while making no adjustments is no big deal either.

You are being to nuanced for the knuckle draggers amongst us. Details shmetails...its all Cams fault

Tied at #2/3 with SD (but significantly behind ATL) in YPC. Yes, Cam is being asked to throw downfield a lot, but not so much more than the rest of the league to explain away his inaccuracy. And before you bring up YAC, looking only at air yards per attempt, he's not even top 10.

https://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/quarterback-air-yards/2016/

Cam is many things, including excellent football player. But accurate QB isn't one of them, which is why you won't see him leading an offense in the mold of Atlanta's or GB's today so far (this isn't to say he can't be brutally effective, it'll just have to be different).

What the fug kind of pseudo intellectual, bullshit terminology, is "brutally effective"?

Apologies -- I'll try to reduce the number of syllables in the words I use (or just post a series of grunts, if I can figure out how to upload vocal tracks).

I was attempting to capture the slightly improvisation, physical, yet ultimately productive style of which Newton is capable -- big throws, scrambles, and running over guys in the second level, etc.

Nice try. If I said a baked potato, is a potato that has been baked, I havent added to the content of my statement. I'd merely be yapping just to intellectually masturbate. I.e you.

I know what you were eluding to. Your statement is just absurd af.

See I'm not sure sometimes I wonder if people like having bad seasons with cam Newton so that they can just complain about him because that's their motive. I also find it weird that someone who's not a fan of this team created an account just so he can comment about how bad Cam Newton is it's really annoying. I'll admit I'm a Cam fan and I am a Carolina Panther fan but even still then I'll recognize when Cam is doing bad and I'll admit it but some of y'all just go out of them go out of their way to be negative and nasty and it's unnecessary

Yes because this year was so much more enjoyable than last? That theory is garbage, you guys might as well just call us a racist and get it over with rather than look facts in the face. Even if that garbage theory was true, Cam is the QB for the next 3 years at least(hopefully more) so those people would want to go through three more of those years? Really? I am a Panthers fan first but a full Cam supporter, anyone who knows me outside of the message board world knows that. I know there are about 10-15 guys on this very board that would happily jump favorite teams if Cam was on a new team. The NFL is year-to-year, so much can change quickly, and knowing this organization, I knew having high expectations for this team was not good.

While it may appear I am singling out Cam for having a bad year, I sure as hell am not giving anyone else a pass either, no one on this team had a good year simple as that, especially coaching or FO. The main reason I have criticized Cam or just said simple truths about his season are for a couple reasons other than playing the most important position in all of sports. One, I think we all had high expectations of him because of last year, and he is probably more physically gifted than any other player in the league. While last year he was the best player in the league, this year he was on of the worst on our team. Whether it be from the ridiculous hits to the head, sore shoulder or any other injuries, those dont change the results. Secondly, the QB position is one that elevates other players game and the top guys do that rather than let other guys bring theirs down. Last year he did that, when Ginn would drop a beautiful open bomb Cam would not let that bring his performance down on the next play. As far as Cam's game goes, I have two things I would like to see improved. The first is leading the receiver or throwing to spots rather than throwing to the guy. I think that would help improve yac. Secondly, pocket presence and movement in the pocket. With his size, it will be difficult, but I am referring to the small subtle steps or movements to step up in the pocket to avoid defenders. Dropping back 9-12 yards doesnt help either, it's hard to blame the tackles when the QB goes that far back, there is no pocket to step in to.

So while it may appear I am just bashing Cam because "it brings me joy", you couldnt be more wrong. I would much rather be winning with Cam than finding reasons to knock him and I believe that is true with 99 or maybe just 98% of our fans. Read below for my equal opportunity criticims of other spots on the team.

Green Bay says hello.

Rodgers is in another dimension right now.

Look at all 4 of these teams and there's one thing they all have that we don't, a serious receiving threat out of the backfield. When our RBs line up, defenses don't really have to worry about that aspect of our offensive game plan. You have to be able to be versatile with your RBs. and we aren't.

Stewie and Fozzie can both be effective receiving out of the backfield.

The fact is, outside of a QB triple-spin blind-throw screen pass, Shula's scheme ignores the RB in the passing game.

Because NONE of those were issues.

They were all issues to an extent, but the consensus here is wanting to fix everything else while avoiding the obvious bad season from the QB position.  At times, each of those failed our  team but it wasnt every or most games. As promised from my above post, I would single out each group of players so I am not just taking this poor season as an opportunity to bash Cam.

Coaching: I will group them all together, they failed this team from day one getting them prepared in training camp. I know RR is a players coach but its time to toughen up. Stop giving vacations in camp. Game time management is terrible whether it is not using time outs properly, but most importantly, getting the freaking play call in on time. When we line up at the LOS with 7 seconds on the play clock, you cant successfully read the defense and make an audible, if you do the snap is on :00 and it give the defense the advantage.  A far as adjustments, they have gotten better and are as good as most, just not the best like everyone here deserves. And lastly, player loyalty. Tolboat should have been cut and Kyle Love should never have been cut.

O-Line: We started out with the same lineup that had us around the #5 line last year. Not sure why everyone's game went down some, running game was the most disappointing and then the injuries. But over the season, they weren't terrible just not good.

Receivers: They pretty much played up to expectations but lacked the big play that Ginn brought us last year. I think Philly needed more snaps. Some laziness and confusion on routes. Cam seemed to lock in on one guy though rather than look guys off like he did so effectively last year.

Defense: There were about 4 games the defense gave us little to no chance to win. The turnovers weren't there like last year but they picked up after the bye week. Too many rookies in the secondary, pass rush was lacking the first 6 games.

Gettleman: It was a terrible gamble to leave our secondary like it was. Im not going to harp on the Norman thing, been done enough but I dont think for the long run is was bad for the team. I dont like Coleman trying to play SS but that may be more on the coaches, Boston is a SS more than FS. The criticism for the O-line is unwarranted though, we had the same 5 as last year and they were top 5-7 in the league. Continuity cant be underestimated. "but oh Remmers was exposed in the Super Bowl by the TOP RUSHER IN THE LEAGUE WHO EXPOSED EVERYONE HE PLAYED."

Special Teams: I cant think of any group more disappointing than them especially the returners. Coverage was okay though. Gano didnt play well, we were stuck trying to make a 56 yarder which he made but that icing timeout was unfortunate. Hey, but at least he missed all those in week 17 so we have the #8 rather than number 12 or whatever it would have been.

Shula hate: since it is so popular here, Ron mentioned the word "evolve" once and people here are running with it like they thought of the idea and the coaches are too dumb to try to. First of all, the scheme is exactly what any smart coach would have done. Cam is an unorthodox, unconventional QB that can do things no other can do. They system is right for him. He can get that tough yard our running backs seem to struggle to get. IF Cam does not run, or at least has the threat to do so, he might not be a top 10 QB. That IS what separates him from the rest. He has a cannon, but lacks touch and pocket presence. Until that improves, his running or the threat thereof is his biggest asset.

I said, in shorter terms, that Cam had a crap season and doesn't have the skillset to run the offenses the OP is lauding, regardless of personnel. Neither is exactly a groundbreaking insight. This somehow invited a mountain of abuse towards the man who had, by the lone holistic metric, the best season this year and has proven over the past 17 games that he can definitely run said offense.

It's also not at all ironic; if you were to assume I wanted my QB out after a single bad season, it would be totally unironic of me to do come here and have the same overreaction.

Don't bother with that guy, he is on Cam's nuts so much he could probably paint a vivid picture of every vein on his dick. Other than barely admitting a bad season and quickly turn attention to anyone else to point out they also didnt play well, every one of his posts is some insult to the person who isnt such a fanboy and knows when a player isnt playing up to par. Internet tough guy at its finest right there.

Now stop liking my posts, although you seem to be decent, I know you are enjoying what we had to deal with this year because it is pretty much what your team went through last year. I hope GB crushes you though I think you guys are going to the Super Bowl and will have a tough time there. I would say good luck but I dont mean it.
