Watching these playoff team's offenses

When Matt Ryan wins the MVP with Ted Ginn Jr as his #1 WR, and not Julio f*cking Jones, then you can come back here and start flapping your gums Falcons fans.

Until then, your boy is still a braided belt wearing fairy.

Don't step in this house thinking you run anything.

Outside of Carolina, no one really cares (or will remember) how the Panthers almost won it all -- most think the NFC field was pretty weak, benefiting both the Panthers' record and Cam's MVP case.

Replace Julio's stats with Kelvin Benjamin's and he still has a markedly better season passing than Cam did last year. I get that you like that Cam's the MVP and it sucks that it'll likely be taken away by a division rival, but the amount of excuses on this board that get made 1) downplaying Cam's failures and 2) cheapening/insulting basically any other QB's accomplishments is totally laughable and can easily be turned on its head.

You are the one who decided to go straight for the jugular within the first 5 posts of this thread by trying to slap everyone in the face with your balls.

We know his completion percentage.

Nobody is downplaying it.

But I'm also not going to play nice if you're going to go out of your way to be a douche unprovoked.

Honestly the fact that the Cowboys won the top seed in the NFC with a rookie quarterback only to go one and done would suggest the conference is even weaker this year than last.

If you want civil discourse, don't try to f*ck somebody in the ass with the first post. You aren't going to get the red carpet.

Put Matt Ryan behind the OLs Cam Newton has played behind and he's no longer in the NFL. Straight up.

He's a really good QB. I've thought that ever since he single handedly made those bad BC teams relevant. Hated seeing him go to ATL. But, he isn't the type of QB who could survive trying to run our offense behind our OL. Hell, Cam and Big Ben may be the only two current QBs who could. Rodgers too. He's smart enough and mobile enough. Everyone else? Too small or not mobile enough. They'd get killed.

Mark Sanchez probably had more playoff wins than Matt Ryan until yesterday. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Cam had a bad season, along with the rest of our team.

But you stepping in here talking poo when your board was ready to run Matty Melt out of town on a rail last year is beyond ironic.

Take your success with a big slice of humble pie.

I said, in shorter terms, that Cam had a crap season and doesn't have the skillset to run the offenses the OP is lauding, regardless of personnel. Neither is exactly a groundbreaking insight. This somehow invited a mountain of abuse towards the man who had, by the lone holistic metric, the best season this year and has proven over the past 17 games that he can definitely run said offense.

It's also not at all ironic; if you were to assume I wanted my QB out after a single bad season, it would be totally unironic of me to do come here and have the same overreaction.

I like you. I've given Atlanta their credit where it is due.

Kelvin Benjamin even stated how well your team is playing. Some fans here basically suggested he is a traitor for doing so. I found that absurd, and didn't care.

Again, I am willing to engage, and have engaged in reasonable discussion, but it seems some Falcons fans want to dig up the old days. Which is strange because nobody who is a Falcons fan has said jack poo about Cam Newton here the last 3 years before this past September.

People in here are in such denial about the terrible play from the QB position this season and how much that affected the offense.

Cam has not been playing to the fullest potential but it's OK (not really) because he's not the only one that has been slacking this year like he even said at the beginning of the year that they were just taking turns messing up, if it wasn't his throws not being accurate it was his wide receivers dropping passes or something else similar .....Carolina was just not clicking this year and there were/are a plethora of reasons why that was the case. So nobody wants to single out one bad problem, and another thing why is it that we have to say Cam was bad why single him out when whole team was awful, this year could have went a lot better even with the restrictions and setbacks so no I'm not gonna go out of my way to say Cam was this and that when the whole team was slack ... so slack that you cannot just pay attention to just one component of it all. Plus anyone denying that he was less than perfect is crazy we seen the games we all know what happened he was extremely lackluster at some points in the season.

Don't bother with that guy. He's been posting stuff like that about Newton for years. Just one of the many loathsome losers here that feels vindicated when our QB fails.

See I'm not sure sometimes I wonder if people like having bad seasons with cam Newton so that they can just complain about him because that's their motive. I also find it weird that someone who's not a fan of this team created an account just so he can comment about how bad Cam Newton is it's really annoying. I'll admit I'm a Cam fan and I am a Carolina Panther fan but even still then I'll recognize when Cam is doing bad and I'll admit it but some of y'all just go out of them go out of their way to be negative and nasty and it's unnecessary

It's not nearly as bad here as it was just two or three years ago.

At one point we had several posters here who regularly created threads to talk poo about Newton for no other reason than to stir up trouble.

As for the 2016 season, when you look at Newton's completion percentage, obviously it indicates he had a lackluster season. To put it mildly. But some people are taking that and running with it like it's an all time terrible season. The reality is, through 15 games he finished with only 1 more interception than he did last season as league MVP, and that was behind one of the worst offensive lines this franchise has seen in a long time. Things could have been much worse. Even with all the adversity we experienced this past season, we would still have been in position to make the playoffs if not for some terrible wayward kicks by Gano in close games.

    • I will say that while fitterer was all over the place with no clue, Morgan at least seems to have a plan. Sign your good players, use fa to address big weaknesses,  don't mortgage the future, and try to build through the draft.  The results are still questionable but I can say we have improved.  He realized first our interior o line was trash, addressed it and it might have paid off handsomely bc we don't have to draft a qb this year. I still think x will grow into a 1,000 yd 8 td guy which isn't record setting but strong, brooks was a huge swing and a miss, but Wallace, jt, Smith wade and Coker were all solid gets and he also got a 2nd rounder back this draft and got Mike Jackson for a 7th that would've been cut.  This year our run d was trash so he addressed it with run d specific additions. Time will tell if it works but I am cautiously optimistic after years of being blatantly pessimistic and a good chunk of that is Morgan's work
    • With 3 coaches in 3 seasons, I didn't expect much development honestly. Coming out of college, he was always a project receiving tight end that was a very physical blocker. From what I remember, the thought was if he was able to develop his catching and route running, he could just truck people with the ball in his hands because he loves the physical contact. We've just sucked at developing talent for decades. Either guys have it when they get here or they don't.
