I was in San Diego when I went for tacos. How could you not want some awesome fish tacos from a local dive? Authentic local cuisine > processed ass patties any day.

oh I would 100% get local cuisine over fast food and fish tacos are so good. so you made the right choice

My go to's for burgers in NC.

1. What a burger. Kannapolis-Concord-Salisbury. Not the national chain. Best burger around in my opinion.

2. Off the grill. Concord burger joint.

3. Red Robin. Went there for the first time not long ago. Delicious

4. Cookout. For the money and convenience this is hard to beat. I'll go here more often than the others.

5. 5 guys. Amazing but way too expensive

Then Wendys and Burger King. I never go to McDonald's for a burger unless im drunk and need a cheap mcdouble.

That's because the 3 main food groups in Cali are tofu, avocado, and semen. So when they actually eat a burger, they all like "Oh, I'm so BAD! I ate MEAT!! It was so TASTY!! But never again. Until I'm in this neighborhood again."

Five Guys. And Red Robin. "FRIES!! SO MANY FRIES!!!" Sorry, Sally, I ain't into fries that much.

CookOut is usually located by a college (as is CiCi's), because broke ass college students just want to eat like pig for 5 bucks. The quality is low, but so is the health grade. I don't care, I got 20 bucks to last a couple of days, so I'ma eat that MegaMeal at 4:00 and get some cheap alcohol. Cuz, 'Merica, bitch.

To all of you "aristocrats" complaining about fast food, remember this. You have a choice. Don't go back. If thy Bojangles or thy Taco Bell offend thee, cut it off. I eat both on occasion, I go to Szechuan 132 and order Cheng Du Chili. Literally a soup made out of chili oil. It physically scared me the first time I ate it. But it's so good.

And, back to the original post, yes, a burger you cooked on the grill is infinitely better than anything you can buy somewhere else. But some folks don't have the time, money, or a grill to do that. The heart wants what the heart wants.

get off your high cholesterol horse!

but yeah... I hit up a cookout from time to time...

I like to get a regular burger, Cheddar style, minus the onions and mayo... basically a bun, a patty, cheddar cheese sauce, and a couple strips of bacon...

I also like to get a large chili cheese fry... which is basically fries covered in the same cheddar sauce and some kind of mystery chili that I'm pretty sure is just yesterday's cooked burger patties that didn't get sold, chopped up, and mixed in some kind of grease... It sounds horrible, but tastes good.

I might go there once every couple of months, but they probably aren't in my top 5 places for a quick bite. Mostly because the local ones, for whatever reason, always seem more concerned with teenager drama among staff than getting my order right.

I thought it was the best place ever when it first came out. I would visit my buddies at NCSU and we would hit the one up on western and it was great. This was like 2005ish.

Now .....eh it's ok.

also, I know someone who got very very sick from the cookout near Moorehead street uptown a couple years ago and was hospitalized.

I hate to say this but I'm a regular when I pull up I don't have to order I just drive to the window and pay my order is ready. I'm like Norm from Cheers, so sad. I love fresh brewed tea so I show up  every day when they open.

Their tea is really good

I would never eat anywhere in Concord and certainly wouldn't trust any place in Kannapolis.
