There's no one in the NFL today even 50 percent of what Steve was in his prime. He's one of the only players I've ever seen that just would destroy the spirit of the defense in real time.

Legit Hall of Famer

He's no Steve Smith but he does play the game very similar to 89. I was watching the game vs Det and im like man there were glimpses that reminded me of 89. The way he holds the ball with one hand breaking tackles after catches. No one is saying he's 89, but his game does emulates it.

More than a few Huddlers---arguably smart football guys---used to downplay the talents of Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate. I used to always say that Bladwin and Golden Tate were ballers. They are tough, smart, superb route runners, and have good hands. It's a bit of a stretch to compare any receiver to Steve Smith, but both Baldwin and Tate have been likened to him at different times in their careers. That's a high compliment, and a testament to their games.

There is only one 89, but Baldwin and Tate are receivers that you absolutely want on your team though.

There's only one Smitty. He created a new template for a receiver that players want to emulate.

Some are fast. Some are brave. Some will fight you. Some will run precise routes. Some will give their all to compete for every ball thrown their way. Some have attitude.

None have it all. Except for him.
