As for filling Wilks’ position, Rivera could turn to longtime NFL assistant and Gastonia native Perry Fewell.

Fewell, 54, interviewed for the Panthers’ head coaching position in 2011 before Rivera was hired. Fewell and Rivera were together in Chicago on Lovie Smith’s Bears staff for one season in 2005.

Fewell was fired in Washington last week along with defensive coordinator Joe Barry and defensive line coach Robb Akey.

Back in the day Fewell looked to be on track to be a head coach.  I remember he was among those mentioned when the Panthers hired RR.

Sounds like this would be a great gig for him. I would think both Ron and Gman have worked with him.

Same career path as Emmitt Thomas.

Ron hit two homers with his coordinator selections and his staff selections have, for the most part, been very good.

Not sure why he's so stubborn with retaining guys who very clearly aren't working out when he's shown a knack for finding the right talent on the whole.

You mean.........shula?

Fewell would be a home run, but I'm curious as to how the Redskins DBs looked last year. With the baller JNo on their squad as well as Breeland and Cravens.  In fact, Washington stole my DB draft last year with the combo of Fuller/Cravens.

Fewell used to be the Sean McDermott of the NFL for a minute as the hot name on the verge of a HC gig. He is a talented coordinator so I would think he would be an amazing hire for DBs.  Any chance he's looking for a DC job instead?  He certainly checks enough boxes for us.... Former Giants' staffmember, NC native, familiarity with Rivera.

Well, I visited the Redskins forum once before, and all I saw is how they hated every corner not named JNo, and their defense as a whole besides JNo.

So...
