It's worse than I thought

It went downhill because folks are criticizing Gettleman? This thread isn't even bad, as there has been great discussion in here.

Its funny you say this in this thread where there's slight criticism of Gettleman, but there's a thread that was created earlier that criticizes Shula, and there's no complaints from you or anyone who complains about the quality of the board. I guess if you criticize the right people, it's ok. Also worth noting that those who claim to be rational, usually aren't and are just like the ones they rally against. Your just on one extreme while others are on another extreme.

He's saying the quality of the board has gone down since the run last season and the plummet back to Earth this season.

We picked up a lot of "bandwagon" fans last year, and now they are vocal.  At least that's what I read.

And yet, somehow we made it to the Superb Owl last year. I mean, these guys suck at building a team, don't they?

Playoffs for three seasons running as NFC South champs before this season. Gettleman's just a fake, right?

Got us out of salary cap hell and now we may have in the neighborhood of $70 million in cap space for 2017. These guys don't know crap about managing a team do they?

Geez, I'm thinking maybe it's the fanbase that doesn't know shite.

Really, show some sense of perspective.

Take away Cam Newton from that offensive run stats and tell me if we would have made it.

No other QB had ever been asked to do what he has had to do to hide the offensive short comings caused by 'fill in the blank'

...and as we see, it has taken its toll and now we have to 'evolve'.

Offensively, the panthers scared no one on 2016 and if they do not upgrade in 2017 it will be the same result and I don't care if the entire offensive line returns healthy

Yep. But let them interpret things however they wish.  Not to mention the fact that people weren't bitching about Gettleman when things were going right and we were winning, but now it's all that most of them talk about.  It gets old seeing the same poo from the same people in every thread

Is this the thread where Panthers fans eat their own vomit in a pathetic attempt to justify the lack of adequate attention to our offense over the years?

You can't improve your team if you're constantly trying to suck your own dick.

We've made mistakes along the way. We still haven't witnessed back to back winning seasons.

At some point this fanbase finally has to come to the realization that there are no consolation prizes. You don't get a Lombardi Trophy for telling yourself you tried.

Either we are getting better on both sides of the ball, or we're getting worse. The rest of the division, and the league got better. What did we do? We let ego stand in the way, and told ourselves we could get by with what we had. It blew up in our faces. So why are some of you still pushing this mindset?

Also, since pushing Jordan Gross out after Newton's rookie season, we've had the likes of Byron Bell, and Nate Chandler protecting our QB at critical positions along the offensive line. For Christ sake we even put Sione Fua out there.

But hey, we've "tried", group hug guys.

Well, that's expected. We just had a losing season, and not only a losing season, but a season in which we went 15-1 to drafting top 10. Not only will these so called "bandwagon" fans be more vocal, but your going to have "real" fans be vocal as well.

I guess they love mediocrity.

Also, it's hilarious watching some people in here who are in a rage about this thread. It's not like I pulled those stats out of thin air. Those stats came from the guy who was just being praised in this place a day ago.

Dawg, let's be real. Majority of your posts consists of complaining about Gettleman complainers. That's literally all your posts. You can't get on others for redundant posting when your posts are quite redundant.

Also, few were complaining about Gettleman when we were winning, because we were winning. When everything was going right the complaints toward Rivera and Shula were down also. It's also been said before, but if you don't like the threads or topics, stay out of them and/or create a thread on a topic you'd like to discuss.

We need to get a real FB, a LT and a RB to play the offense we want. Draft Fournette or Cook if you want to help Cam, and then get a FB to open holes and block.

See, it's hard to get a sure-fire one of any of those positions. Going higher in the draft helps, but it is no guarantee of anything. Grabbing one in free agency can sometimes be a case of paying highly for some other team's leftovers -- it's a lot like buying a used car off of Craig's List -- it might be just as good as advertised, or it might have rusted out rocker arms and sawdust in the transmission.

You see, the guys don't come with Madden stats and it's not a plug and play situation. It isn't insert X dollars here to get 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Either Fournette or Cook could be the best players to ever strike the field, or they could be the next RGIII or Reggie Bush.

Luckily, we've got Gettleman here and he's proven to be a pretty good judge of playing ability and he's an expert at balancing budget versus capabilities. He's also proven that he picks up players that add positive influences in the locker room and on the field -- something that a lot of desperate GMs don't even bother to do.

Gettleman has been playing the long game, and it took a while to climb out of the hole he started in. Have patience, the guy knows better what he's doing than you do... I mean, he is studying tape and speaking with scouts right now while you're just spinning your wheels arguing over how bad 2016 was.
