I say go rb at 8, te 2nd rd and whatever needs are from there and sign a solid if not very good LT and DB and you got something.

I know we're talking about starters, and I don't have any issue with your way to address it at all.

The thing is, I know what Gettleman wants to do, and why he is doing it, regarding BPA. Philosophically I agree with it on its face. But when it gets to the point that year after year, you're drafting the same high picks at obvious positions of strength, then you gotta figure some other positions are going to go lacking. That's why perhaps you need to be just a little bit flexible as it pertains to the BPA. I mean, it's day one and you have two players graded very highly when you're on the clock, with one being at a position of strength and the other being a position of need. If the two are close it might behoove you to take the player at the position of need regardless if you have the other graded a little higher. Of course, if there is a prospect that you believe is just going to be extraordinary, like a Barry or Deion Sanders, a Calvin Johnson or Lawrence Taylor, then by all means grab them. But I haven't seen any of those types of players drafted by Gettleman (or even been available to draft), so he hasn't had to be so inflexible in my opinion. Regarding this draft, analysts are only talking about Fournette in those terms, so if he is gone I don't really have any set position in my mind, but I will probably have a conniption if he picks a DT or LB. If he deems an RB (outside of Fournette), TE, OT, or even a DB worthy, I'm not going to question Gettleman. I'm always up for a WR that is a legit WR1 within the context of the entire NFL. Only a DT or LB will make my blood boil, especially if we re-up Klein.

is there top offensive talent that will have an immediate impact on offense?  IMO there isn't on the OL....which is the biggest need.

We could find an impactful WR or TE or RB in this draft and likely could find one of those without even having to use the 8th pick in the draft on it.

This is a good draft for RBs and TEs IMO.

These guys can take a lot of pressure off the OL.

Fournette / Leggett combo would make this team balanced and pretty much allow the Offense to  control the tempo of the game until the end.

Not here he doesn't and that was with arguably the worse receivers group in the league last year. Even with Oher and Remmers at tackle. Watch next year even without a legit left tackle as long as they are healthy we will have a top 10 offense once again.

Cam will have to carry the offense...thats over..Can't use Cams running ability as a threat..they know Cam is not going to be doing muchof that ..he is getting older...the line has to improve and Shula has to do better at play design and calling. Teams are not scared of Cams running ability and if if they do not find better lineman we will be having this same discussion next yr...I have faith in Cam because he has not given me any reason not to believe in him...but the way the team is built around him has to change ..he needs support now because he has more on his plate now..The projects need to stop on offense. Its beyond time to get Cam some legit help.  Ted ginns,  Kbs, Remmers, Oher, corey brown, tolbert, Funchess are all projects neither were sound coming in Dave and Ron were just crossing their fingers hoping they would pan out...Every other team in the Nfl has a true playmaker on offense outside of a TE...good teams have at least 2 good wr and 1 decent rb ..we barely have either.

I think you underestimate Cam's ability as a passer. Last year he turned arguably the worse receiver group in the league to a pretty decent group. Cam was never going to run that much going forward. He was going to have to evolve to a pocket passer  as he aged anyway. No quarterback can take that pounding year in and out.

With some O line help and perhaps some additional help at RB and receiver we should be okay. Add another legitimate TE who can block and catch the ball and we should be improved on offense. I would love a legit left tackle and at the least a veteran to help in the event Oher can't go.

On defense our biggest need is a nickel coverage corner and stud strong safety with Coleman going back to free safety. Our corner sucked early but improved by season end just as I predicted. I think we will be okay next year as long as we stay healthier than this year.

From the team that made the SB, and the #1 scoring team in 2015 6 of the 11 starters where Gettleman finds. LT, LG, RG, RT, and both WR, not saying they are the greatest in the world but its not like he has not done anything with the OFF.

After all the things that went wrong this season the Panthers where still only 3 games out a playoff spot. FG kicking(1st and last  game really stand out) and coaching had more to do with missing the playoffs then OFF talent.

This Alamo defense of Gettleman of "who could we have had?" Becomes more preposterous every year.

He has been here a long time now. No, I don't remember who was available for free agency four years ago, but I do know teams used it to their advantage.

Hey guess what

Those "its just a weak class this year" OTs have gone all over the league in recent years and strengthened OLs. In fact as I remember it, two rookies destroyed us in Primetime on a Sunday Night not so long ago.

Those "there just aren't any good DBs" all just went to New York and gave them a ride to the postseason.

It goes on and on, at every position. Your GM just has to be good enough or willing enough to find them.

Bruh, I feel you. I'm so tired of the excuses. I've been screaming OL for the longest around here. Case in point, David Bakhtiari. The first draft for Big Dave. He drafted in the 4th round, with the 108th pick, the great Edmund Kugbila. The very next pick was Bakhtiari going to Green Bay. He was recently named 2nd team ALL-PRO. That's pitiful. Unacceptable.

I'm not one for revisionist BS, but there is definitely a trend with this sorta thing with Gettleman and his recent drafts (sans his really good one in '13) Alshon, Bakhtiari, Collins, and I'm sure there are others I've missed. Crazy.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
