It's worse than I thought

There's a number of holes to be filled on this team and its going to take more than #8 and #40 to fill them. We'll have to use free agency this year.

So my point is that its way too early to start discussing which direction we HAVE to go in the draft with the whole pool available to us. Rest assured, if we get to mid-March though and Dave is busy tossing his feet up on a leather couch and watching 07 Giants highlights while tossing back Dr. Pepper, then I'll frustratingly get involved in the discussion over which position or side of the ball we have to prioritize this year.

If this FO does not address in either free agency or the draft the lack of explosiveness on this offense, expect another season like was just had

truthfully, outside of Olsen, who does any DC fear, Newton has regressed for many reasons as well and I am not sure any DC has fear of him either  he is a shadow of what he was just two years removed

I hate how the draft is implied as the only way to build.

Norwell and Philly were UDFAs.

Oher was an FA and any criticism of him can be directed to Byron Bell.

Resigned Ginn. Brought in Cotchery + Avant. Brought in Dickson. Brought in some RBs.

If starters are what we are talking last I checked there were only 3 defensive starters drafted by Gettleman unless you include the rookie CBs. If we aren't declaring Williams a starter then imo by no means should Boston nor Ealy be considered starters either.

We didn't get cap space until this past season and a chunk of that was saved to retain core players this coming offseason and next. It's not like we had tons of money to throw around.

This Alamo defense of Gettleman of "who could we have had?" Becomes more preposterous every year.

He has been here a long time now. No, I don't remember who was available for free agency four years ago, but I do know teams used it to their advantage.

Hey guess what

Those "its just a weak class this year" OTs have gone all over the league in recent years and strengthened OLs. In fact as I remember it, two rookies destroyed us in Primetime on a Sunday Night not so long ago.

Those "there just aren't any good DBs" all just went to New York and gave them a ride to the postseason.

It goes on and on, at every position. Your GM just has to be good enough or willing enough to find them.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.

Bessingers or Melvin's BBQ sauce.  However Bessingers is the best in the world, Melvin is 2nd.    I found this article    In fact, the New York Times Magazine described the sauce as “terrifically balancing the tangs of mustard and vinegar with a wood fire's charry flavor.” While helping his dad, Joseph “Big Joe” Bessinger, as a teenager in the kitchen of the family's first restaurants, Thomas learned the secret recipe for the gold sauce – ... https://www.bessingersbbq.com › t...
