All I know it would be naive to act like LT doesn't need to be addressed. We not gonna be able to bring a FA in and say you're Oher backup, when they probably want to start. So Gettleman needs to decide to release him and go after a FA or draft one to be in the making

Gut says Oher retires... Rivera/DG talking about they hadn't even talked to the guy.

If he doesn't, it is sold as an open competition but understood that Oher is now depth...

Or cut, I guess...

2.5M savings, 3M dead to cut

I'm fine with Oher if we can't upgrade. I'd really much rather put Remmers on the bench and get an upgrade for him. I would love for us to land Sebastian Vollmer.

I would like an upgrade as well. Tho Remmers is extremely valuable as a guy who can play every position. I think we have Oher, Williams, Remmers, and a mid rounder at tackle on the roster next year...seems most likely

I'm of the opinion we can't go into 2017 with Micheal Oher set to be our starter at Left Tackle. With major concussion issues this past season and playing in just 3 games I don't see him as anything but depth or a candidate to retire.

What say you, roll with Oher or look elsewhere for the key to protecting Cam Newton in 2017?

Unless a FA LT shows up Oher, then Oher is the sure thing.

Like I said, I expect us

My gut says omeone other than Michael Oher, but reality is tough.

No college prospect I'd trust to start as a rookie and the free agent prospect pool is lousy. Trade might be tough to work. Could be a surprise cut but you can't count on that. Could try someone already on the team but that's iffy too.

All that said, I'd prefer a change.

Tough offseason ahead.

to get - at the minimum - depth at LT through free agency. Matt Kalil is a likely target, and he'd have possibility as our starter; if he gets it.

I'm coming into this season expecting Oher to be able to play at 100%, otherwise I say we'll find someone.

Oher was PFFs worst rated tackle when we got him, iirc... 2nd was Bell.

We will find a scheme fit. I just hope he turns out to be mid 20s and can stay off the injury report.

Michael Oher with Williams opposite of him is not a bad tandem, long as we invest in a RB/TE combo.

We do not need all the draft picks this year & should acquire an extra 2nd round pick.

Use FA on DE/S/CB

Extend - KK,Star, Norwell, & Trai

Rise of QB stock should be intresting with several teams in need of a starter.

1-RB

2-OT

2-TE

3-DE

4-SS

I hope you are right... but that all 4 of those guys are depth.

We need replacements at both tackle spots and a future replacement for Kalil.

As I think we are all painfully aware, Remmers is an often flagged tackle who cannot handle the speed rush.

I would be less mad at DG overpaying for tackles than him not addressing the position in FA.

Cam, or our scheme... or both... need time.

The problem is, I like Cam Robinson. I'd draft him, but I know the big cat will poo poo such a move(Thanks, Carruth/Hardy)....

I also like Chad Wheeler from USC. I have hope we can get him in the 2nd, but my gut says he will sneak into the bottom of the 1st round.

The rest of the draft is stacked at Tackle......Right Tackle that is.

Oher if healthy. Rookie LT is usually a disaster and this year's class is underwhelming. No FA worth shelling out the big bucks for either. Ideally Oher comes back for this year and we get our future LT in the draft this year or next with Williams solid at RT and Remmers a very solid swing tackle.
